I've been having a hard time studying the books of Ezekiel and Isaiah. My interest has been focused in Isaiah chapters 54-66,
and most of the book of Ezekiel. I am hoping and praying that someone can recommend some trust worthy resources to help my understanding of Bible prophecy's. Thank you very much

Tim.

Hi Tim. Those are some of the tougher books to tackle. Other than commentaries, have you ever checked out any free lectures?

Isaiah - Free Course by Liberty University on iTunes U

Here's one that I've listened through, for example. RTS has one, too, if that's more of your flavor.

I would recommend a MacArthur study Bible, not necessarily for John's Theology/Eschatology (though in large part I think he is pretty solid), but because it has exceptional cross referencing which helps Scripture to interpret Scripture.

God bless.

I've been studying chapters 54 and 60 of Isaiah. When I start researching these chapters, it seems there are so many perspectives, that it just gets to be.......mind boggling. There is just so much material to sift through and It leads me down so many rabbit holes, I completely forget where I was.
I pray God will give me the wisdom to find the truth. I sometimes wonder why this has to be so difficult to understand. I believe God made is word that we should understand it. I just get so frustrated with this.

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, Ephesians 4:11

There's no shame in needing some help at times, or why else would we have been gifted with teachers? I'm grateful for all of the help I've received, either in person, online, or through a book.

Isaiah 54 is a great chapter! Are you aware that the opening verses were the text of the so-called 'deathless sermon' delivered by William Carey which launched the modern missionary movement? Carey described the Church of his day as a barren woman in its defeatedness, dishonour and barren arguments. But this woman is called to shake of her widow's weeds and prepare for blessing, 'For your maker is your husband; He is called the Lord of all the earth.' The Church of Christ would expand to the left and the right and inherit the nations.

One of the very best commentaries is The Prophecy of Isaiah by the late Alec Motyer (IVP, ISBN 0-85110-647-1).

With Carey taking the passages of Isaiah and applying them to the Church. Do you believe in double fulfillment? If you do believe in double fulfillment why would the church only take the blessings of Isaiah and not the curses?

I am speaking of Isaiah 54. Which verses do you think are curses?
Isaiah 53 is speaking of Christ's death and resurrection; chapter 54 speaks of the Gospel going out into the world, and chapter 55 is about the Gospel invitation and response.

I know you are

Which verses do you think are curses?
Versus 7 and 8 It's not a curse but a judgment. I meant to say judgment. I'm sorry. If we claim the Old Testament Jewish prophecies for the church, then we must claim all of them, the judgments as well as the blessings; and most people do not want to do that!

The words
Isaiah 53 is speaking of Christ's death and resurrection; chapter 54 speaks of the Gospel going out into the world, and chapter 55 is about the Gospel invitation and response.
I agree

Thank you Martin. I read a little of the introduction and decided to buy the book on Amazon. I hope it answers the many questions I have.

Heard a preacher state once, "Before I even think about teaching from any Book, I will sit down and read it fifty times." The point he was making is that once we are familiar with the components of the Book, then we are better able to place them in the larger context of the writing, and subsequently, the broader context of the Bible itself. The first book I tried that with was Hebrews, which was a daunting Book, and seemed impossible to understand. I had not read it ten times before it started to make sense to me.

We become better understanding of Scripture as we become more familiar with it, so, there are only three things you have to do in order to understand it better:

1. Study;

2. Study;

3. Study.

Don't think I am forgetting about prayer and appeal to our Teacher, I am not. Those will be automatic while you study, study, study, lol.

God bless.
