Images said to be Christ;Sacred or Sacrelege?

Unnecessary at best, strong warnings against them in scripture. Possibly idolatry ? Crosses as jewelry, pictures of Christ, I don't push the view around a lot, but I do believe they are banned.
Neither sacred or sacrilege. In a word--inaccurate.
doesn't logic require it to be one or the other as it is supposed to be "GOD".
Since no one outside of humans in the 1st century has actually seen Jesus logic requires me to say that illustrations of Him are inaccurate. Whether or not they are sacred or sacreligious would require knowing the heart of the artist creating the image.
Might as well ask--writing notes, underlining verses, doodling, etc. in your Bible--sacred or sacreligious? It is supposed to be God's Word, after all.

Since no one knows what Jesus looked like, if a born again artist draws a depiction of Him and does it out of reverence and with a worshipful attitude, how can that be sacrilege? OTOH, if an unbelieving artist draws a disrespectful image of Jesus that could be sacreligious.

The legalist in me won't allow it. I ask, when God commanded no graven images He didn't add the exception "unless you do it out of reverence and with a worshipful attitude".
And secondly, what is anyone basing Jesus' image on? What if someone drew a picture that resembled Barney Fife in reverence and with a worshipful attitude? Would that be Okay? I can't say yes.
A graven image is a carved or three dimensional image not a painting.
I'm going to stick with my original response--neither sacred or sacreligious, merely inaccurate.

We have the scriptures to tell us who Christ is, what Christ came to do, and what he accomplished. Why would I then need a picture of his face ? Most pictures of Christ has more of a likeness to wild Bill Hickok than what Christ looked like when He was on this earth. I don't think his natural appearance was much different if any than any other Jew. The scripture say's in Isaiah 53:2 there is no beauty that we should desire him. In Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. The only image we need of Christ is what is written in his word.
