Yeah, dancing with your wife in public and those dreaded hayrides are something to be concerned about

And we wonder why our churches are ineffective? We are caught up in all the wrong issues.

We are talking about different hayrides.

I am referring to a youth group going on a hayride together to *cough* attend another Christian activity.

I understand a family doing it, or a group of adults, kids, etc. but surely not for some "Christian youth" going on a hayride.

I assure you from personal experience, nothing God honoring is going on in most instances.

OH Brother!!! Those ungodly hayrides should be banned... I guess Rick Warren or Gangs are behind them!

And what are we thinking by allowing youth to ride on hay wagons... it might stir up those ungodly emotions within them.

I'm with pastorsbc on this one... The church is ineffective in America because of all the crazy nitpicking being done in the pews.

Do you really believe that God is more concerned with how someone shakes hands, or whether or not someone goes on a hayride, or that we enjoy the music we listen to and a foot moves to it, than he is about souls being saved... if those things bother you....GET A LIFE...

I heard today about a church that will not give to missions because they are concerned about having enough money to replace the carpet in the fellowship hall!

Christians need to get their priorities in order... PEOPLE ARE DROPPING INTO HELL!!! and some nit pick over handshakes, dancing, and hayrides... amazing... I just wonder what God will say at the day of Judgement....

"Well, I am so proud of you because you never danced, went on a hayride, or fist pounded. As a matter of fact I am just going to forget that you didn't love your neighbor enough to tell him about my son...Just come on in, but remember we can't have fun here, and don't you let me catch you dancing to Gabriels music..."

Romans 12:1 has nothing to do with dancing or not. Again, I asked for some Scriptural support for your statement. Being married 29 years, and serving in a church for about as long, I fail to see the point of the rule you created.

If the ultimate goal of NOT dancing is so you do not cheat on a spouse, does not that sound kind of ridiculous. If I wake up at 2 am in the morning and say self, I think I will go cheat on my spouse today, but before I do it, I am going to go dancing.

And whatever you do, dont dance on a hayride.

I dont, but that has nothing to do with the fact as to whether it is wrong or not. If I truly believed it was wrong, I wouldnt have let any of my kids go to proms or school dances while they were teen agers, now would I? Its part of growing up, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If thats the desire of your heart, then dont dance, but dont expect others to share your ideas when they have no Biblical foundation.

Ok, so where is it OK to dance?

Mistakes parents make has nothing to do with whether it is right or wrong.

I am going to guess you do not have kids that age. Common sense goes a long way.

No, I'm 22. Just "yesterday" I was at those "godly" dances. I know what went on.

There was a good Baptist girl that I was friends with and she loved to dance. Now she had a kid out of wedlock and as far as she is living with someone.

I guess her parents were just letting her be a teenager, letting her enjoy life, and sow her wild oats?

    Wow,
I need to go back to those health classes. Never knew dancing could do that.

I don't know about that. I once had a pastor who said that dancing was just "fornicating standing up". Maybe he was right.

That's only one of the reasons that he is no longer my pastor.

Ahhh...These threads make my day. I needed some comic relief. Wow, in what, four or five pages we went from handshakes, uhh... excuse me... fist pounds, to hayrides and dancing. Let's not forget that evil ccm music, or better yet women in pants. I'm sure that also attributed to that poor Baptist girl having a kid out of wedlock. Dancing could not have been the only reason she ended up where she is.

Umm, btw, can someone please explain how square dancing is satisfying "lusts of the flesh"? Now I can understand that argument with some of the dancing going on in the clubs now days, but square dancing, let's be realistic. Ya know, Christians can have fun and still glorify God. I was once a vistitor in a church that had a good 'ol fashion square dance and pot luck dinner after church on a Sunday. It was advertised throughout the community and a lot of people showed up. After the dinner the pastor gave a short message, and a few people were saved that day.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. What on earth is the spiritual or "holy" dancing, that you have previously mentioned? Please also give an acceptable modern definition of it,i.e. describe how it is done.
