I disagree. The weight of the conclusions are in favor of those of Mr. Pillar as we see in the results on the ground in Iraq - three years into this war and we have not secured the country. And since it is certainly not the fault of our armed forces, it must be the fault of our policy planners - starting with President Bush as he is ultimately responsible for the error in judgment that was made to invade Iraq.

I don't know. We conquered and occupied a country with a formidable Army (I know, you may not think so now, but I was a reserve drill Sergent in the first gulf war, and they trained me to go door to door giving death notices, when they want reserve Drills available for that they are expecting mass casualties, and they were) and occupy it for several years with less than 3000 casualties, it can be argued as an unmitigated military success. We wont know if it is a geopolitical success or failure for many more years.

The Soviet Union occupied Afghanistan for about a decade but I wouldn't say that it ever secured it. And look what happened to their occupation.

Of course, our military is much better than the old Soviet Union's but our enemy may be just as determined as the Afghanis were.

    ASLANSPAL:

You don't read very well, do you. I admitted that my anonymous charge concerning Mr. Pillar was perhaps bad judgement; that charge is no longer anonymous.

Let me repeat the definition of fraud:

    NOUN:

"A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain.
A piece of trickery; a trick.

    One that defrauds; a cheat.
One who assumes a false pose; an impostor"

Now, let me post the definition of libel :

    NOUN:
"A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation.
The act of presenting such material to the public.
The written claims presented by a plaintiff in an action at admiralty law or to an ecclesiastical court."

The assertion of fraud requires the accuser to furnish proof. I, as the accused, and in the spirit of Christian brotherhood, have already gone the extra mile and revealed otherwise, publicly. <edited - LE>

Elijah we do have moderators and people capable of editing and removing posts..you had that outlet?

And all my postings on the political board are of humble opinion...I will accept your description on faith that you are not a fraud and what you did was unwise and perhaps you would
    use a moderator.

I don't appreciate the intimidaton when we have fair policing on this board...and you have that
    easy resource.

Their are really two edit buttons on this board
the button itself and the moderators.
