I’m in favor of it.

Especially so things like this don’t have to happen anymore…

That is the exact reason, I am against the rule!!!
Things like that can happen - as it is part of baseball - and when it does happen - it makes for great baseball!
In addition - it makes the pitcher throw an additional 4 times - and a pitcher wants to protect his arm....
as far as "speeding up the game" well - that is part of the game!

Since 2017, Managers could request an intentional walk - meaning the pitcher would not have to throw the ball to that bater.

Good, Bad or indifferent?

Bad! Part of the game is to wear out the starting pitcher, by running up his pitch count. Intentionally throwing 4 more pitches to walk someone who might hit a homer, should have a cost. It is not as if today's batters are overpowering our current pitchers, the average of batting averages is down not up.

Four pitches that even an old man like me could throw is not exactly taxing a pitcher's arm.

A major reason for batting averages being lower nowadays is that hitting for a high average and avoiding striking out is nowhere near as highly valued as it was back when I was a kid in the 1960s. Now it is all about swinging for the fences.

Right, nobody shortens up their swing with two strikes and tries to get on base. They close their eyes and swing as hard as they can. Got it!
