The Thirty Years War was started by an incident called "The *Defenestration* of Prague". The Bohemian nobility were more or less in revolt against the Emperor, and, at a meeting of the Bohemian Estates at the Hrdcany Castle in Prague on May 23 1618, the assembled Bohemian nobles took the two Imperial governors present at the meeting, Wilhelm Graf Slavata and Jaroslav Borzita Graf von Martinicz, and threw them out of a window of the castle and into a ditch.
Very good! Now I am going to make it tough. The two men were wounded, not killed. As seen from the next paragraph of your research

Neither man was seriously injured as a result of being defenestrated (an English translation of part of Slavata's report of the incident is printed in Henry Frederick Schwarz, *The Imperial Privy Council in the Seventeenth Century*

What was special about the ditch that probably saved their lives?

Also - the event you record was Defenestration II.

What happened in the first one (1419)?

The second question should be easy. The second is a little tougher. Anybody up to the challange?

I will give you a hint in a couple of days if no one gets it.

i'm going at the same time. Yet I will be in school for another rather long year....

For the new people...

I'm 16 years old I'm from Missouri.(yesh!) I was saved at the age of 7 1/2 years old. I am a sunday school teacher, buttein board decorator, part-time secratary...pretty much everything that needs done in the church that really isn't an every week thing, if it's not a man's job, I've done it at one time or another. I am going to be a christian school teacher when I grow up I felt God calling me there when I was 13 years old. I like History, especially WWII era...Because D-day is my birthday. And I have a large family. not immediate. 24 first cousins on my dad's side..21 one of them are boys. So that is a little about me.

Hi, I am 15 years old and I am from Texas. I was saved when I was 12 years old. I grew up in church and I am proud that I am an Independent Fundamental Baptist. I work with the Jr. Church and VBS. I love to read Christian books, singing, and a ton of other things. My favorite is fellowshiping with my family and friends at church and church related events. I dont quite know where I will be going to college yet, but I plan to get certified for Christian Education and be a missionaries wife. Thats just a little about me.
