I regret the death of Cecil and hope Palmer gets punished. However the media has overemphasized the death of the animal and put Cecil up to the level of a human. Palmer has received death threats which is sad as the Lion is no human. I find it quite sad that people can justify the death of millions of babies yet throw a Frinze when a prized animal is murdered. Sad...

Salty, he was very ethical for a lion. After all that is what God created lions to do. Cecil did not kill for the fun of killing or to collect trophies. I am not at all sure God approves of humans killing animals for fun or for trophies. What say you?

I read where Cecil had been the top dog, I mean lion for thirteen years. He was probably four years old when he became top lion so that would put him at seventeen years old. Know doubt he would have been challenged by another lion in the near future and killed by the next in line. Also Cecil was not very smart because the female lions do most of the hunting and killing of other animals and share the kill with the males but ole Cecil takes off on his own to get a easy free meal. I was thinking how much people have changed over the years as my mind went back to Teddy Roosevelt the big game hunter that killed a lot of big game in his life time and people didn't get all bent out of shape in those days. I am a hunter myself, my forefathers were all hunters killing animals to put meat on the table. With all the animal activist today and all the crazies running around I predict that the killing of any animal will be outlawed in the future.

Actually, I think it is appropriate placed as it speaks to the loss of values when it comes to human life.

Well, if we can't kill them with firearms, we'll just (inevitably) kill more with fenders. That outcome, plus things like Lyme disease and ecological damage thru excess herbivory, will result in calls for control of animal populations. Do we really think it wise to exchange a program that provides revenue for things like protecting habitat and conducting search and rescue, for a taxpayer-funded sharpshooter or other animal control personnel?

Oddly enough, I've noticed that all the cats I've had throughout my life have killed for the "fun of killing." Probably it's to hone a skill they will never need as their food comes from the pet store, but they certainly like killing things....and not too quickly either. I think they are baptists also, but I'm not sure what kind.
