Is America Becoming Just Banana Republic?

I have to ask you if America has become a nation of meaningless laws, statutes, codes and regulations?

America nothing but a toothless lion. All roar, no teeth!

When I watched that video of the schoolchildren on You Tube chanting praise to Obama, I couldn't help but ask God where this nation was really headed? I wonder if anyone in this nation realizes that this is probably how Hitler started out. And many Americans just don't care!:tear:

The Hero Worship that has so tightly gripped this nation has NOW become a deadly epidemic to a once powerful Constitution that was designed to protect the freedoms of the cictizens of this nation.

But, like the saying goes, the moral values of a nation is not rooted in, or founded upon their ability to write laws to protect its citizens; but rather in their leaders unwillingness to enforce the laws when push-comes-to-shove.

The illegal immigrant problem is just one of those examples. If a person can "get-away" with coming to this nation illegally, than what other laws will they feel free, and entitled to break in the future???

We can't allow people to come here illegally, and than reward them with Social Security, free education, home loans, health care, etc. And Obama knows this, as much as Bush and Clinton did. However, each President, over the last 20 years (or longer), have made a mockery of our laws and the people those laws were meant to protect, especially when it comes to illegal immigration, and the need to be politically correct.

America will not be a major "super-power" much longer, because the illegal immigrants have redirected this one time world power in the direction of being a "third world" country.:tear:

Shalom,

Pastor Paul :type:

It is impossible for the US to become a banana republic. Why? Here is why:

banana republic

any of the small countries in the tropics, esp. in the Western Hemisphere, whose economies are largely dependent on fruit exports, tourism, and foreign investors.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/banana+republic

Watch out. I used the term 'banana republic' some time ago and was jumped all over, called a racist, for using the term. But then, it turned out the person accusing me did not know the meaning of the term.

Yes, I recall... the problem is that you were not referring to a small country in the tropics of the Western Hemisphere.

And as I recall when you were called out on it your justification was that you heard a Chinese person say it. Whatever that was supposed to mean.

You would be better off not taking the thread off topic down this particular rabbit hole.

And a blessed good morning to you.

It was not off topic, but showing that the wrong term was used ... perhaps 3rd world country would have been more accurate.

As long as we have enough nuclear weapons that could destroy most, if not all, life on the earth in a matter of minutes the United States will be a superpower.

Of course, the problems in this country could be solved but it will mean turning away from the Republicans and the Democrats and putting real supporters of small, limited, constitutional federal government into office.

It's very possible that our POTUS would agree to destroy all of these in the spirit of global harmony, don't you think, Ken? The moment we do that, we're doomed.

.

Let's see...Pakistan has nukes...does that make them a super power? Does Russia look like a superpower anymore? "It's the ecomomy, Stupid" so the saying goes.

I'd have to check, but think our national debt per household is now around 100,000.

Obama's projection is to add about 10 Trillion to the debt over the next decade.
The Dallas Federal Reserve estimated our unfunded obligations at over 99 Trillion dollars.

And if this 'cap and trade' bill passes, that may be the final nail in our coffin.
It will add more trillions to our economic burden and all for nothing. As Sen. Inhofe has said, it is all economic pain, no climate gain.

But Al Gore will be a billionare with his carbon investments.

Russia certainly has enough nuclear weapons to be considered a military superpower.

I don't know that Pakistan has enough nuclear weapons to destroy life on the earth. As far as I know neither does Israel or India or France or Britain or North Korea. I don't think I have heard how many nuclear weapons that China has. I fully expect China to become the next economic superpower.

I think that the change in America is from a nation based on laws to protect the individual, to a socialistic form of government where the people are servants to society. The change has been in the minds of our citizens. Through indoctrination in education, young people especially have been conditioned to accept socialistic principles that would never have been tolerated 50 years ago.

America will remain a powerful country economically and militarily. But we are quickly abandoning the principles of individual rights and liberties this country was founded upon.

Our loss of freedom occurred during the previous administration which used the 9/11 attacks as an excuse to invade two countries without justification and to pass the patriot Acts which took away our right to a fair trial among other things.

You really should exercise your memory better!!

Our loss of freedom began when Lincoln began his shredding of the constitution to "SAVE THE UNION"!!!

But I strongly suspect you already knew that YOUR comment was not precise, but the truth doesn't suit your anti-Bush agenda!

And you wonder why nobody takes you seriously---you DO wonder don't you???

Then again, maybe not!!

We have the weapons, but i don't think we'll ever be a military, nor economical superpower. The only superpower we have is tourism :D

You are so correct, Sir!

Unfortunately, I think you have hit the nail on the head. The days of "big" and corrupt politics are going by way of the dinosoars...and your view true patriots and champions of true democracy will be that which pulls this nation out of its deadly dive into the ocean waters 30,000 feet below.

Do you understand the Patriot Act? Do you know that it allows the CIA/FBI to break into your house without a search warrant and then tell you you will be in trouble if you tell anyone that it happened. Do you know that an American citizen can be arrested for no reason and held for an indeterminate period of time without recourse to an attorney or even without being charged with anything.

Do you believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? Obviously not if you accept this radical infringement on our liberty.

Do you personally know anyone who has had his home broken into by the FBI/CIA without a search warrant? I do. You just don't understand what Bush/Cheney did to America.

We will never know how many there were. Thank goodness this judge struck down some of the unconstitutional provisions of the Patriot Act.

A federal judge struck down controversial portions of the USA Patriot Act in a ruling that declared them unconstitutional yesterday, ordering the FBI to stop its wide use of a warrantless tactic for obtaining e-mail and telephone data from private companies for counterterrorism investigations.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/06/AR2007090601438.html

Even high officials in the government do not know how extensive this was ...............

The Bush administration built an unprecedented surveillance operation to pull in mountains of information far beyond the warrantless wiretapping previously acknowledged, a team of federal inspectors general reported Friday, questioning the legal basis for the effort but shielding almost all details on grounds they're still too secret to reveal.

The report, compiled by five inspectors general, refers to "unprecedented collection activities" by U.S. intelligence agencies under an executive order signed by President George W. Bush after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Just what those activities involved remains classified, but the IGs pointedly say that any continued use of the secret programs must be "carefully monitored."

The Supreme Court can't strike down secret signing statements and secret executive orders.

Our owners will keep us pacified as long as there is another trillion left to steal and when it is all gone they will care what we do.
