Would say the latter, especially in the books authored by the Apostle Paul!
Most of my "reformed" theology came from reading scripture and believing what it said. I had never heard of John Calvin before I believed the work of God in election, predestination, regeneration and perseverance was clearly taught in scripture.
I have never read anything but excerpts from Calvin, and nothing in depth. Neither have I read anything but excerpts from Arminius or those who followed him, and nothing in depth.
Reformed doctrine, IMHO, is clearly taught in scripture, not just in Paul's writings and not just in the N.T.
Would say the latter, especially in the books authored by the Apostle Paul!
I guess that was one of the most humbling of experiences...to read scripture (as a new Christian) and be so excited by what I discovered, thinking I was probably the only person who ever saw it so... and then discover the church had been debating it for 2000 years...:thumbs:yes indeed...you just need eyes to see....that others have seen it before us,should not be a surprise.
I've never read Calvin. The doctrines of Calvinism are based on the Bible. Any honest person would say that even if they disagree with the interpretations.
Calvinism has no eschatology John Calvin's bible went from Genesis to Jude.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Any understanding or interpretation we have is filtered through everything about us. Calvinism is indeed one perspective (interpretation) as to what scriptures teach...so is Arminianism, so is any version of eschatology...et al.
So, what happened? When you went to the book store to get Clyffe notes on the Bible, were the last few pages torn out?Calvinism has no eschatology John Calvin's bible went from Genesis to Jude.

If Calvinism has no eschatology, then why did you include the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, Zacheriah, Psalms, Malichi, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and 2 Peter?
Ah yes, Mr. Doctorate of Theology, I thought included in the degree program was an English class or two. The name we give Scripture, the Bible, is capitalized.
Calvinism has no eschatology John Calvin's bible went from Genesis to Jude.
Sorry for my lack of clarity, I was not attempting to suggest that Calvinism was an eschatalogical position..... just simply trying to point out on all things "spiritual" we do our best to read, understand and interpret.....and based on this we "carve out" our various positions.
Well sorry to hear that. You might want to start out with Dr. Suess books.לא מדבר אנגלית:thumbsup:
Nah, I heard the Suess got his degree from a diploma mill. I actually learned my English from reading the back of milk cartons from the "MISSING: Calvinist Brains" series.Well sorry to hear that. You might want to start out with Dr. Suess books.
