Is gambling a sin?

Some of us gamble with our lives when we use a crosswalk.

 

Point wel taken. It's probably a contextual generalization. I use such phrases like that all the time. Oops, see? I just made a contextual generalization.

 

As a rule, it is not a good idea to gamble.

But with that said, if you must gamble, remember one simple rule: never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Otherwise, you are not living up to the part about being a good provider for your home (don't ask for scripture, it is in there somewhere).

 

in family-related events there sometimes are raffles held, is that considered gambling, even the host gives the tickets and the prize away?
