I was doing my devotions and eating my favorite Ben and Jerry's ice cream (Coffee Heath Bar Crunch) and I thought that maybe I was committing a sin. I was not overeating it, just eating a little while I read but still ice cream is not really good for you so was I committing a sin without even thinking?

Comfort foods and Words of Comfort. Sounds okay to me.

I was told that several years back that it was disrespectful to eat food while reading the bible. I have ate candy and chewed gum while reading (yes even in church). When I was a child I was told this was a big no no.
But if its the type of ice cream that your eating while enjoying the Word and reading your devotions....... change brands.
Bryers ice cream, for instance uses more natural stuff so its not as bad for ya.

Although...I go for the gusto and sip on a Blue Bell chocolate milk shake while I read. :D

I suppose it would be a sin, if you really enjoy it. It may be so good with each delicious spoonful, that it may distract your reading. Butter Pecan....1 Kings....Butter Pecan....1 Kings....Butter Pecan....1 Kings....

What gives you the idea that ice cream is bad for you? It is made from milk. In fact there is good evidence to suggest that children and adults do not drink enough milk today.

Growing up we had a dairy farm and the 3 of us children drank 2 to 3 gallons of milk a day. We made most people look fat.

Aw...shucks....I still love ice cream!
Did you actually read the source? I did not get the impression that the man was against justice but against the death penalty.

Certainly I have not noticed any police officers boycotting the police departments because the police dapartment buys gas for their vehicles that comes from Muslim countries. Doesn't that support injustice? We know for a fact that there have been American missionaries who have been executed for giving out the gospel in some of those countries.

I would say it is a sin to eat Ben and Jerry's while having a devotion because those guys are such extreme leftists...=)

Well I don't eat Ben and Jerry's because it's so expensive but if you eat Cookie Dough Ice Cream, you're pretty close to heaven. YUM!

"Close to heaven"? Yeah, having that sweettooth is one of those things that can push you closer to heaven; but if that's your aim, go for smoking instead, to get closer faster.

How about if it were Ben and Jerry's packaged under another name like so many other things are?

Some of the largest packers of food do not package under their own name.

Now I don't know who makes it, but for those of you near a Kroger/Payless the FMV fat free chocolate ice cream for 99 cents is pretty close to sinless, except of course, for the sugar content. I myself wouldn't eat any ice cream while doing devotions though because by the time I was through it would be dripped all over my Bible....

Questionable poll questions, I think.

Is ice cream bad for you? I don't think so, if eaten in moderation.

Is it a sin to eat ice cream? Same answer.

Is it a sin to eat too much ice cream? Probably.

Meanwhile, my keyboard is getting sticky with Rocky Road . . . just kidding!
