Is it important to "dress up" for church?

Huh? What about:
Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God;

I grew up Mennonite, so I may have more knowledge in this area than you lifelong baptists. ;):Biggrin
So you are saying that Mennonite women wear hats when they prophesy in church? Good to hear the Mennonites are continuationists. ;):Biggrin

I know. Someone spends thousands of dollars on decorations, dresses, and tuxes, hoping to have the most beautiful day of their lives. And, you show up in jeans. They might love you. They tolerate you. But, either they don't think you're bright or they size you up as lacking respect. Maybe both. It's the message you send.
No it isn't. Most people don't even remember 90% of their wedding day. Your arguments in this thread are NOT based in reality but a judgemental, pharisaical spirit.

Mennonites run the spectrum from Old Mennonite to Mennonite Brethren to Hutterites to Amish. All trace their roots back to Menno Simon. Most, here in the US trace their immigration from Ukraine in the late 1800s when the Tzar called for forced subscription into the Russian army. Rather than pick up arms, they picked up life and fled to the America's.

With my wife being Mennonite Brethren I have spent many years being affiliated with a Mennonite community. However, Mennonite Brethren are quite close in doctrine to North American Baptist denominations who trace their lineage to German Anabaptists who also went to Ukraine and then fled with Mennonites to the US.

So, many Baptists and Mennonites have similarities.

I can't agree that most in the US came from Ukraine, as Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio were settled with Mennonites well before the 1800s.

But the ties with the Baptists have always been present, with John Smyth receiving a baptism from Mennonites when he decided his self baptism wasn't scriptural.

I have no idea what anyone else wore at my wedding, or at the wedding of my daughter. Their presence was the most important thing, not what they wore.

When our family, in the 1950's, pulled out of our driveway, in our station wagon, with all us kiddos dressed in our best, we were witnessing. Just a sidelight to our discussion.

Because adults understand that how you dress for something is an outward sign of your attitude toward it.
Disagree. If I am a grave digger, and I wear shabby clothes to dig the grave, does that mean I have a poor attitude towards the job, towards the deceased, the family of the deceased?

The importance is given over to Yashuah ha'Mashiah and His Father YHWH. Personally, I find jackets prohibitive since the MS has transitioned into Progressive. But as I Worship, I often raise my Crippled hands to show YHWH, Yashuah and Ruach that it is The One Elohim, Our Elohim, One God viewed in Three Persons, YHWH (The Father). Yashuah ha'Mashiah (Jesus, The Christ) and Ruach (The Holy Spirit). If the Biker is comfortable wearing hi best Club Colors and his 24" Pig Tail to present himself to the Master, who would I be to judge anything but the fruit of his worship?

I have friends like that and most of our other Old Biker Friends that worshiped with us have already transitioned into Eternity, one side or the other, according to the Righteous Judgement of Yashuah. Those of us that seek The Healing Touch of Our LORD have not the time for anything but to worship.
