I meant that I hoped that Laci Peterson's story had a happy ending. At the time I posted this, it was still undetermined if the body found was in fact her. So I still had hope that it wasn't.

Well, looks like I can stop praying that it isn't her. I am beside myself. [IMG]

[IMG] Well, at least they know now. Although I doubt it's a consolation to their grief. [IMG]

So, is killing an unborn baby murder or not?

From time to time, we clearly see the hand of God moving in the course of daily events. Such is the case in the tragic story of the murder of LACI PETERSON and her unborn baby.

Laci's husband Scott has been charged with murdering his wife and unborn baby. In our system of criminal justice a person is innocent until proven guilty. However, if the theory of the police is correct, Scott killed his wife, attached cement blocks and fishing weights to her body, wrapped it in a tarp, and then dumped her into the San Francisco Bay.

If that is what happened, Scott was betting on her body never being recovered since it would only take several months at the bottom of the Bay
to decompose and for the marine life to destroy it. But a large storm stirred up the Bay a few weeks ago, and in the process, the body of the
unborn baby and what was left of Laci's body washed up on shore.

THE HAND OF GOD MOVED AND ALLOWED THESE BODIES TO APPEAR! The bible tells us in Numbers 32:23 that "your sin will find you out". Jesus said in Luke 12:2 that, "For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."

In an interesting twist to this tragic story, the Pro Death (they prefer the kinder term Pro Choice)
supporters have a real dilemma on their hands. You see, they are going to be forced to defend Scott Peterson during his upcoming trial!

The problem the Pro Death camp is faced with is that they MUST defend Scott Peterson since he is being charged with double murder, that of Laci, AND their unborn baby. If Scott Peterson is found guilty for murdering his unborn baby, then
so should every doctor that performs an abortion!!!

The fact is, several dozen states now have "fetal homicide" statutes on the books. If a person can be charged with murder for killing an unborn child
in an act of violence, then why can't a doctor who performs an abortion also be charged with murder? What is the difference? There is NONE! But to get these "fetal homicide" statutes passed, state legislators had to make ONE HUGE exemption. You guessed it. In cases of abortion with the mothers consent, these statutes do not apply to the abortion doctors. Do you see what twisted logic has to be used to accommodate sin?

I want to speak directly today to anyone that may be contemplating having an abortion. Just remember this. No matter what anyone tells you, it is MURDER. There is simply no justification for it at all. You only have two options. Have and raise the child, or put the child up for adoption.

Also, let me say a word to those men and women who have the scar of abortion in their lives. Sadly, I deal daily with hundreds of women AND men that have made this sad choice at some point in their life. Some of them did this 40 years ago and are still dealing with the hurt, and pain, and guilt. You can't go back and change what you have done, but 1 John 1:9 says that if we
confess our sins, God forgives us and cleanses us of all unrighteousness.

The Bible also tells us that God not only forgives our sins, but forgets them. It is satan who reminds you of your past sins to keep you paralyzed from serving God. HE IS A LIAR!!! Now is the time to trust God's Word, and put it behind you once and for all. God still has much for you to do with your life.

God speaks to us each day in many ways. One of the ways that He speaks to us is through circumstances in our life and world. IT IS NO ACCIDENT THAT THOSE BODIES WERE COUGHED UP FROM
THEIR WATERY GRAVES! God allowed that to happen. One reason was so that the person who committed this horrible crime would have to face the consequences of their actions. The other reason was to use this high profile event to force our nation to accept the fact that life is from God, and the killing of an innocent baby is MURDER!

We need to once and for all take our Federal Government out of the business of legally sanctioning the annual slaughter of millions of innocent lives! How can we expect God to bless our nation when we allow this to happen?

I pray today for our nation. How long can we mock God without feeling His wrath? How far can we push God's grace? I read in the Old Testament how God's very own chosen people lived in blatant rebellion to Him. God tried to warn them. He sent messages through the events of their day. They ignored the messages. He sent His prophets to warn the people to repent and turn back to God. They wouldn't listen to his messengers. Eventually, God punished His people for their rebellion.

Our nation is less than 300 years old. We have been richly blessed with incredible wealth and power, but we are not immune from God's wrath. God is speaking to us through the events of our day and through those He has called to warn the people. I pray that we will listen, repent of our sins, and turn our hearts back to Him before it is too late.

Killing an unborn baby IS murder, whether it happens in an act of violence on the street or in a legal clinic!

    In His love and service,
    Bill Keller

Laci's fetus was 7 months along, well past the point of viability, so I don't see how anyone in the pro-abortion camp could argue the issue of two criminal counts instead of one.

The pro-abortion women's groups are quite up in arms about this -- they figure that if the baby is declared an actual live human being before birth who can be murdered, then they are going to lose points where abortion is concerned.

Just makes me weep to think they might lose some of their funding or earnings because babies are allowed to live....

In the meantime, during the press converence Laci's family gave yesterday, the baby was spoken of by name -- Conner -- several times and referred by the grandparents as "our grandson" as well.

    They knew.

Yes, in this country a person is innocent until proven guilty, despite the tendancy to want it the other way around in emotional media driven cases such as this. I would like to say that all of the evidence that points to her husband is circumstancial at this point and that he has entered a plea of not guilty. I hope we will wait until the trial is finished to make any judgements.

I think this is being considered two criminal counts of murder. But I do know that when trials go to court, the attorneys will use everything in their power to win their case. And that may include this angle.

I don't believe that any of us will ever know the real story or what really happened. We can only make conjecture and try to understand from the perspective of what they tell us. We weren't there.

I pray that Laci and her baby are with the Lord now, and that whoever committed this sin will be punished if not on this earth by man, in the hereafter by God.

    God Bless You,
    Charlotte

I happen to agree. There are a lot of unanswered questions: Is there evidence of trauma on the remains to indicate a cause of death? Why is there no evidence of a crime committed in the house, where it's being theorized she was murdered (blood, signs of struggle, etc)? and lots more.

Personally, I think it may be a mistake to charge him with Murder 1, since they will need to prove premiditation. I think they may be able to convict on two counts of Manslaughter 1, but Murder 1 will be more difficult to prove given the evidence. I detect a plea bargain in the near future....

Yes, he is Innocent until proved guilty. I have heard everything from this being a slam dunk for the prosecution to a defense attorneys' dream.
Curious though, that he changed his hair color, grew a beard, had a large some of money on him and was there just a few miles from Mexico, which will not extradite anyone facing a death sentence.
    A bit suspicious I think.

The police obviously have more evidence than we know about. There must be cause for the premeditation charge. I wonder about the concrete...they may have some proof that it was made ahead of time. I think the police have done an excellent job with this case and I am sure they have tons of forensic as well as circumstantial evidence. We will see....

He is innocent until proven guilty, you are right....but it does not look good...

Ditto! I think when something like this happens, we want the obvious person to be found guilty so we will know there is not a madman running loose. I just hope it doesn't turn into another O.J. trial.

It certainly is a sad story.

But can anyone explain why this story has captured national media attention to the extent it has? (Had there not been a war, it would have consumed the cable networks, I'm sure.)

A very similar case occurred in the San Francisco Bay area last year, and it has received little publicity:

    SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

My own guess it that Peterson was from Modesto, also the home of Chandra Levy, so there already for an appetite for a feeding frenzy.
