Is it moral to Kill in self-defense?

So the new Covenant changed the 10 Commandments ?

The Law is still there, but it is not for believers. It was a schoolmaster. It cannot do what Jesus did. A Christian follows the Spirit, not the Law, for the Law shuts up faith.
Jesus calls us, under the New Covenant, to be peacemakers who live non-violent lives of hospitality and extending love to others.

If we can't protect ourselves, how are we to be peacemakers and extend love to others?
Or is that what you're saying? Sorry if I didn't understand.
So when Christ said
"Luk_22:36 He said to them, "But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one."
that means we are to protect ourselves according to God's Son.
So the commandeents were nullified by the new Covenant?
God allowed for "justified" killing under the law, but he changed his mind and reversed his Commandment to NOT murder, OK to defend yourself?

I must not think it's immoral...I own a 9mm handgun, a 22 gauge shotgun, and 2 rifles, and I know how to use them. 85% accuracy at 50 feet with that 9mm. I don't have to be too accurate with the shotgun, just get close :laugh:

Just thought I'd point out that Paul said ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable...and when he wrote that he was refering to the OT!
No, but the Spirit guides me to protect my family. I have no husband, so I have a loaded 45 pistol that takes his place.
I think we have to say this is a personal decision that is not clearly laid out in scripture. Personally, I believe I should attempt to defend my family from danger, both spiritual & Physical. That said, If an intruder enters my home and kills me & my wife, we will go to heaven...If I kill him, he will likely go to hell. So what's better, me in heaven, or someone else in hell? It seems that someone in the bible gave up their life to give others the opportunity to escape hell...I just can't think of who it is...???
Oh well, that said...I do not own a gun, but if an intruder was about to hurt my family I would do all in my power to stop him, including hurting him. (I have a big knife).
Those that pursue complete non-violence do so to honor God. Those that would kill an intruder to protect their family do so to fulfill what they see as their responsibilty before God to their family. I'm not sure scripture is clear which is the absolute right path.
But...one more thought...if you were a missionary in the middle east; and a gang of islam extreemists attacked you in the street, but you pulled out a secret machine gun and started mowing them down...Do you think your missionary efforts would be hindered or helped?
...I'm just sayin'.

Did Christ kill in defense of himself and his life?
He did what He was sent to do because it was God's will. This isn't dealing with being unfairly convicted of a crime and being innocent sentenced to death. This is dealing with our killing someone in self-defense and I believe in defense of a family member.
Since Jesus said have weapon for protection to His disciples I'd say that would be God's will to protect our family from those who want to rob, rape and kill us or our family members. After christ laid down His life to protect the sheep, but God the Father protected Him time and again until the time that was appointed.
jesus was predestined by God his Father to be the slain lamb of God!
he could NOT miss His death, in order to fulfill the scriptures!
NONE of us have that going on!
Nope; but He did tell some of his followers (that would be our status, since we can't ascribe to being Christ) to go out and buy some swords....
