I personally never had a tatoo but I know many service men who got them when I was in the Marines. Does having a tatoo make you a man and btw a lot of savage cultures use tatoos and piercings as religious identification. Will having a tatoo keep you out of heaven? NO! I guess it all depends on your preference and your likes and dislikes. How you will see these tatoos when you reach my age of 56 is another story but then again you wanted these tatoos. I hope you feel the same in 40 years... Brother Glen [IMG]

Brother Glen, you are so right. When you look at a tatoo on an older man (where the tatoo has been aged 40 years or so) it looks like a smugged ink blot. Nasty looking!

I can imagine what today's young women will look like in 40 years.

With all the tatooing going on, they better hope that they invent a way of removing them so they don't leave scar tissue. So far, we don't have that ability yet.

Again this subject brings up the topic of the church trying to emulate the world.

Sinners are the main ones who tattoo their bodies. This also has been a pagan ritual.
We have been told to come out from the world and be not partakers in their sins.

I know that people tattoo themselves with Bible scriptures or Jesus saves, the image of the cross thinking that they are making a statement for Christ and yes it generates questions but what I have seen and heard is the people act serious asking about the tattoos but questions the persons Christianity later on.

I have seen people with Christian symbols tattooed on their bodies but their lives were not reflection of Christianity so their tatoos were considered products of hypocrisy.

AGain Christians have been admonished not to partake in the things of this world and to come out from these things.

This is just like Christian rock. So many people think that its the lyrics that make the difference but the music and the rhythm and beat is really what influences people. These are from Hell itself and putting so called Christian lyrics don't change the fact that the music is
    wrong.

I am sitting here scratching my head wondering two things.

Would you say that you are not a sinner?

Do you really believe that about "rock" music.
This rock music is about the silliest things I have ever heard. ;)

</font>[/QUOTE]I enjoy both secular rock music and Christian rock music, and I have been a follower of Christ for many years. I have even been the one preaching to the choir. [IMG] funny choir symbol [IMG]

Chocolate is worldly, so is having a bowel movement. I wouldn't call everything worldly a sin, and neither does the bible. Saying that only sinners get tattoos is kind of odd. Only sinners go to church, too, since we are all sinners. Again, I'm not in favor of tattoos, but it's certainly not forbidden. The only biblical reference to tattoos is a cultural reference, not a Godly directive.

When I was young and stupid (who am I fooling? I'm still young and stupid! [IMG] ), about 14, I thought getting a tattoo would make a statement about "who I am". Of course I ignored that "who I am" is supposed to be one with Christ. One of my friends' older brother ran a parlour, and I got a stylized cross tattooed on my ankle.

The pain itself, I feel, should have been repentence enough for that bit of bone-headedness.

I for one always wanted a tatoo, when I was in High School. Now that I have had time to think about it, no thanks. I don't think that a tatoo is a sin but I would be careful about how the tatoo branded me for life.

I also wonder sometimes about the tatoo artist. Have you guys ever seen some of the elaborate work these people do? Also, have you ever heard of how some artist hide things in their art? What could that tatoo artist be hiding on you? Could you be wearing a "KICK ME" sign :D or worse  and not know it ?
