Is manna a type of the grace of God?

We read the story of God providing the manna to the Children of Israel in Exodus 16. As I was reading this passage, I was struck with the idea that this manna represents the grace of God.
  • The manna was 100% from God.
  • The manna was provided to everyone without discrimination.
  • The manna was easily accessible to all (right outside their door).
  • All anyone had to do was walk outside and gather the manna.
  • God provided it, they had to go out and get it to benefit from it.
  • God made the provision and man acted upon that provision in obedience to God's commands.

I totally agree with it being grace unto the people.they were unable to go get enough on their own to feed that many people of their own ability.

It was impossible for the people to supply enough food to sustain all of them.

But it was possible for God to supply enough Food for the People as he did.

Kinda on the lines of Salvation here---------

Impossible unto Man to come to God --his desires are after going after sin.

Impossible for man to believe with his heart--He loves sin,self and the world

Possible with God when the Spirit draws man unto his self.....

Possible with God when his power enables man to be willing.

we see Salvation of Yahweh in this also . :flower::flower:

Absolutely. I think James provides NT validation for all of God's gracious gifts:

James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or [r]shifting shadow.

I totally agree. This certainly fits the application of the illustration of the manna.

Sorry, I do not see these thoughts represented in the manna illustration whatsoever.

Amen to that! My point is, more than the manna literally being a gracious gift of God, it is (to me) a wonderful picture of the grace of God, especially as it pertains to our salvation.

I suppose we could make a C/A debate out of it, but that is not my motivation. I enjoy looking at the types in the Word of God and how they apply to the Lord Jesus or, in this case, the grace of God.

Manna is a type of Jesus!!! I.e. the bread from heaven!!!
