Is salvation in any other name?

Jim1999

It was said that a simpleton sat outside Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle. He said simply, "I am just a fool and nothing at all, but Jesus Christ is my all in all."

I believe he said all that needs to be said. He didn't understand the intricacies of theology, and he was not preoccupied with details, but he indicated a knowledge of his lost estate and in Whom he could rely for his eternal salvation and indeed his very living.

We tend to get all tangled up with how much we know and fully expect a new seeker to have all knowledge. We think they should know all the detaila of how redemption works. The gospel is very simple; Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved. The sincere seeker will have doubts along the way; he will have incorrect theology; he will not understand every scripture, but the Lord has more patience than the lot of us, and He will lead along the way.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, Sherrie, I absolutely agree with you both. And thank you, Jim, for your good way of putting it.

But what about those who don't know the 'name' J-E-S-U-S? What about those who simply have heard from long ago that the Creator God promised to save men Himself and they trust in that, recognizing their own inability to do anything about their natural heart and state?

In other words, what about 99% of historical humans?

It is our job to tell all those who do not know. and if I can't, then you who are there can. And if you can't, then me who are/is here, can.

It is everyones responsibility to do so. Not just some people labeled missionary. We all are missionaries. We are all called to be disciples; who believe on the name Jesus Christ. God gives each one of us that boldness when we wear His armour, and carry His sword.

That is what the Primitive Baptist preach that God knows ALL HIS CHILDREN... And will save ALL that he gave his son Jesus Christ to save... And Men and Hell shall not prevent it... Those who think otherwise better take Romans 8:28-39 to heart... Which state all are secure in Jesus and Christ cannot fail and none call fall!

According to the Word of God, He gave His Son to save every man, woman, boy, or girl that has ever lived or ever shall live.
1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (KJV)

Christ's substitutionary atonement provided the way of salvation for all men. When we, by faith, repent and turn to Christ, we close the deal. Salvation is secured. It is a conscious, deliberate decision on man's part to be saved.

I do not read where God will save a person in spite of themselves.

This link was emailed to me this morning. It presents knowledge of creation and the Flood and some other things that we think somehow only belonged to the Jewish people.

But, of course, if we are ALL descended from Adam, and then from Noah....

See what you think. I don't know anything about the school from which this came, but the presentation is extremely interesting and not too long:

Abiyah, it is both. It is not ridiculous either.

Paul warns of those who preach a different Jesus. John warns about those who do not hold to the correct doctrines of Jesus.

So yes, the "name" of Christ includes his person. English speaking people must call upon the Jesus Christ of Scripture. What else would you call him?
This, in resonse to my note, Preach??? Are you
reading things into my note that I did not write, or
are you saying that if I do not call Him "Jesus
Christ," I cannot be saved?

Abiyah and Helen how are you ladies doing? :D ... So how are we suppose to call on Jesus Christ... Audibly... Spiritually... Or from the heart?... Or some other way?... And who really needs to know anyway... But Jesus!... And unless you are a fruit inspector how would you know who called on him?... And even if you are... Are you positive they don't belong to him?... Will he not save ALL his sheep like he promised?... Or will he lose one?... Brother Glen
Glen --

Not everyone calls Him "Jesus," and that was my
point. I never said that anyone was not of Him, so
I don't understand your question. Sorry!

That was an interesting article Helen and it only goes to show we know less than we think we know... As always PTW I stand by what I said... And Jesus Christ will save ALL his people just like he said he would

Propitiation however is an actual accomplishment of satisfaction, not a mere possibility. The position you have presented here leads to universalism since you say that Christ accomplished propitiation for everyone without exception. Scripture clearly does not teach that. It is a conscious choice by man to be saved.

I do not read where God will save a person in spite of themselves.
Nor do I.

The fact remains that all who would be saved must call on teh name of hte Lord. Those who do not, will not be saved. I am not sure why all the fuss about this. The word is clear. People make up all kinds of hypothetical situations and answers because they are not satisfied with Scripture. I think we stick to Scripture and say that personal, concsious knowledge or and commitment to JEsus Christ is the only way of salvation. Those who do not have this will perish because of their sins in hell.

The OT believer was saved by faith as well, though Jesus Christ was not the content of their faith. The revelation from God about how to approach him was the content of their faith.

Glad you took time for the link, Glen. I hope some others do, too. It is fascinating. And thank you for the acknowledgement of Abiyah and me! Please know you and yours remain in our family's prayers.
