Rev_20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Is Satan already bound?
If Satan wasn't biblically bound, you wouldn't be freely preaching the gospel.

Jim

Then how do you explain this verse:
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
I don't know, I haven't ever seen him walking around eating people, have you?
As Jim said, the gospel has since been freely preached to the nations.
When Peter penned the passage you quote the Jews were still actively resisting and persecuting Christianity at every opportunity.
A rather sophomoric statement. I asked a sincere and legitimate question. You seem to be unable to respond with maturity and grace quite frequently.
And where in scripture does it suggest that Satan being unbound would inhibit the gospel being preached freely?
It is not correct to paint all Jews in such a broad brush. Neither was it just Jews who were acting this way. Not that it has any bearing on the subject at hand.
I can't help it if you lack a sense of humor. Lighten up.
You need scripture to suggest that?
It's not correct to paint me the way you just have. I specifically said 'apostate Judaism'.
Here is your quote:
"When Peter penned the passage you quote the Jews were still actively resisting and persecuting Christianity at every opportunity. "
Here is my preceding sentence:
"The persecutions and relentless conivings and conspirings of apostate Judaism ceased, and the new covenant came down from heaven in all her glory as the New Jerusalem and all the Gentiles have since had access to her."
If you care to study what "being bound" means in Greek literature, it is not being tied to a pole by chains or even rope, but being restrained and controlled by the powers that be. Satan is bound now, else we could not freely reject him and freely live for Christ and preach the gospel.
Cheers,
Jm
How else do you understand words and expressions in a foreign language?
