But he is speaking expressly to those ALREADY saved. It isn't dealing with salvation but relational for we can still sin as beleivers (children of God) sin simply means to miss the mark or to fall short of the expectation.

Beleivers will not be judged eternally on our sin with regard to salvation as that debt has already been paid. But the consequences of our disobedience is an impared relationship with the Father. He is encouraging people not to assume you have already arrived or that now whatever you do - sin has no consequence to you OR worse yet that now you are above or can not sin.

Since John keeps speaking of "we" constistantly implying that he is also within the "we" and the then goes on and states in Chapter 2 My children (regarding spiritual offspring) He is stating that even we as beleivers still are not sinless and anyone who makes such a rediculous claim IS NOT OF GOD - There goes Oral Roberts :)

I might be reading you wrong but from where I sit, (and to me alone) it sounds like you are saying this verse is pertaining to the saving of a person only.

John is delivering a sermon. Are all in our churches or all who read His Word "already" saved? Verse 3, "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."
You have said the magic word. He did all the work, and the debt is paid, and our sins are forgiven when we come through his faith. This is "Body Church" talk, and not "Kingdom Church" talk.
Now you are back under "Kingdom Church" talk, for you now must endure until the end, for you have not yet arrived.

I believe John gives the "pros and cons" in this matter. He lays out very precisely in each verse for us to know ourselves, of whom we belong to.

Doesn't verse 6 say the unsaved are "liars"? Are we not told liars in situations such as this are of their father the devil? How about verse 8? The truth is not in us. And so it is also in verse 10.
He says "these things "we" write unto "you". If "we" say to "you" Verse 10, "… that "we" have not sinned, "we" make him a liar, and "his" word is not in "us", so we are not to believe any gospel that preaches "we have not sinned", for it is a lie.
I John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." John writes to those of the "Kingdom Church", and this "confessing their sins" is mandatory for they made "covenant" with God, and they broke "covenant" asunder. We in the Body of Christ Church are not of the gospel to the circumcision. We are of grace through faith in Christ. We believe in our "heart" to righteousness, and with our "mouth" we confess Jesus Christ for salvation.

I Corinthians 1:30, "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." Christ Jesus is our righteousness, and sanctification, and our redemption. We are justified Through faith, and not By faith. Jesus Christ is righteous, and through faith we enter into His righteousness, being identified with Him, for He is the righteousness of God.

When we confess with our mouth, our Lord Jesus Christ, we are repeating what God says to us. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved - Acts 16:28-31. This is what we confess with our mouth for our salvation; we believed in our heart to righteousness of God through the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sin is what we are, our very nature is to sin. There is none that doeth good, There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none that understandeth, there is one that seeketh after God. Rom 3:10-12
Being freely justified by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Rom3:24
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deed of the law.v.28
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Rom5:12
Our sin nature came from Adam. We sin daily, all of us. Those who have been born again have had their sins forgiven, past, present and future! We have a Savior, who chose us in eternity past. We were dead in sin, But God.....Eph 2:4 Even when we were dead in sins, He quickened us together with Christ, by grace are ye saved!v.5
Sin is transgression of the law! 1John 3:4

Not all diseases are caught. Some are simply genetic and people are born with it. Go to the book of Romans and begin in Chapter 7 and don't stop till you get through chapter 9. They will answer very clearly your claims that all sin is a choice and that one cannot be condemned for something that is in any way beyond their own free will choice. Paul even understood his own weakness with the sin nature. I do think it is like a disease in some ways and some ways it is not.
