Is the denial of imputed guilt essential in the "traditional statement"

What do you think? The traditional statement released by some of the non-cal faction of the SBC denied imputed guilt. Is that denial essential to their argument?

Would either of you gentlemen please explain for us less informed and knowledgeable? It would be appreciated. BTW, jonathan, the use of "faction" is a bit acrimonious ....don't you thinK? Perhaps that was your intent. The "non-cal" part of the SBC is not by any measure small or of necessity dissenting.

denial of imputed guilt

From my understanding of the denial of imputed guilt, this doctrine is essential to their doctrine of the age of accountability. This doctrine is totally unscriptural and spiritually damaging, not only for individuals, but also for the local church. This is a newer doctrine within the SBC since historically the SBC was founded by men who held to the doctrines of grace.

None of this is true. imputed guilt has nothing to do with any age of accountability. And the SBC was founded equally by folks on both sides.

Is that Original sin being denied?

And doesn't paul link together the view that God imputed spiritual death to us thru Adam fall, yet imputes eternal life to all found in Christ?
