is the "Illumination" By HS same As the "Anoiting" John Has in 1 John?

Do they refer to same aspect of the HS work in us?

What exactly is/does His illuminating do for us regarding understanding the Bible?

I'm assuming you're talking about I John 2:20 and I John 2:27

To me, it appears that John is drawing a connection between the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the knowing the truth.

Luke also draws a similar connection in Acts 16:15, regarding Lydia:

And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira,, which worshiped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended under the things which were spoken by Paul.

This same John recorded Jesus' words in John 16:13

Howbeit, when the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth....
