And yet, ituttut, there are thousands of Christians through the centuries (and even now in some cultures) who never had an entire copy of God's Word like we do today. Not even the first century Christians did. Yet, somehow, they were able to forge a relationship with Christ, win souls and plant churches.

A wonderful gift, the Holy Spirit!

No disagreement here, for I don't believe any Bible is God.
    Your repeating what I said.
The Gnostics and others as the Ebonite's do/did, attack Scripture.
Are you saying John was not talking about the Word that was in the Beginning?
It contains the Word of God does it not? No Word, then no Bible of any kind. If the "Word of God", the only Begotten Son of God is not the Word of God, who is talking to us today by His Word? Is not the Word of God that was made flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord that spoke face to face with Paul on Damascus Road? I believe the Word is, and of our Lord Jesus Christ. If God has no Word, then God cannot communicate with us.

If we will just believe His Word, we find in His Word in Acts 11:19 "Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only." What was this word that the Word preached to only His People? It was His Word, His Gospel to the Jew only. He tells us He came for none but His own, and the Word preached His word to His people. Did the Word then not chose Him out another Apostle to give His word, the Gospel to both Gentile and Jew. Is this Gnosticism then believing the Word that became Flesh and is now in Heaven seated beside His Father in Heaven?
Then do you not deny the Son was slain from the beginning. Ephesians 3:9, "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:" Can we go about denying what we find in the Bible is the words of God, the Son of God that created all things. And should we not believe that the Word of God became flesh, and He was named Jesus?

If we refuse to believe our very own Apostle, then we should at least believe one that would only preach to the "circumcised". "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world", Revelation 13:8."
Your thoughts are not my thoughts.
Talking about not understanding our God.

It is nowhere close to being God! But it is the TRUE word of God by the enlightened of the Holy Ghost who those who wrote each book. I would not own anything but a KJV. It's my choice. I just don't like the others. May God Bless!! John 3:16 :1_grouphug:

I think we are in total agreement... we are just saying it different.
The Word was made flesh... Jesus that is, not any Bible.
Gnosticism taught that Jesus wasn't made flesh, because flesh was sinful.
Gnostics valued knowledge, so John showed them where the true knowledge came from... The Word, Jesus Christ, which became flesh.

C4K had the best argument. When did the Bible ever become flesh?

    Again, I think we agree.

We do agree. We find this information in our Bibles.

I understand, but the early churches (both those of the circumcision gospel, and the gospel of the uncircumcised) had heard and read the Epistle's of Paul. The gospel of believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, was known around the world, even while the Apostle's lived.
Jesus lived. The twelve Apostles lived as men, when Jesus lived as man. Paul lived as Jesus lived. Jesus was crucified, and there were eleven Apostles that knew Jesus. Three of those Apostles wrote books while they lived. One Apostle commissioned from heaven did not know Jesus as man, but as the Son of God. These all lived in the same century. The early churchesbegan during the time of the Apostles. The Word was preached to the circumcision, and to the uncircumcised. The earthly Apostles preached to the circumcised the gospel of the circumcision, the "Kingdom Church". Paul preached to the circumcised, and to the uncircumcised, the gospel of the "Body Church".

All of what we call our New Testament was written while Apostles lived. John was the last to write in the Century that they all lived. The Early Church not only had what we have in writing, but they spoke it before they wrote it, as did those that were not Apostle.

The New Testament was in the beginning of the New Century so those of the first century did have the Word of God.
    Amen! He wrote the Book.

No version is God but, simply the Word of God:

I am not KJV only rather I am only KJV. This it the only version that I have used in my pulpit ministry for over 40 years.

I don't disagree with you. The Word is God, but we are not to worship a book. I like you prefer the KJV for I am familiar with its verbiage. The phraseology cannot be touched by any other version.

Man, I missed this thread evidently. Sanderson's open worship of a Bible is more cultish than anything I've seen since watching the video from Hyle's Pastor's School a few years ago where they were parading a styrofoam AV1611 up and down the aisle while the choir was singing "This is the Rock that was made without hands" (a beautiful prophecy of our Lord).

Maybe I didn't miss that much. TT asked "How low" and I echo the op.

Dr. Bob... I never saw that video, but I heard recording of this one time I think... Is that the one where they would switch the words when another version was held up, and say something to the effect: "this is not the Rock", But when refering to the KJV, would sing "This is the Rock"? and then the crowd would go wild.

I had forgotten about that. Maybe that explains this false teaching... for Hyles corrupted a lot of preachers in his "preachers" school.

Did you see the video this summer at the youth conference where it was asking "who's gonna fill this chair" Then Schaap comes on and says that FBC of Hammond was founded on the God-man, and a picture of Hyles flashes up next, and all the teens shout and cheer for their dead hero?

Hyles corrupted preachers, and Schaap is corrupting teens.
I will try to find this link here on BB where we were discussing this this past summer/fall.

    Here it is http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=31600
Now Bapmom and others said that I had to be there to truly get the feel of the video... but In my opinion it is lifting Jack Hyles to a level of worship. But this is my Opinion, and I have been wrong before, and may be on this.

Its not God, but sure believe God had a hand in it. I could make it on the KJV, if that was all we had. As a matter of fact, that is all I use ,unless I am looking up something someone else said was scripture.
Someone said we could make it without the Bible entirely, I completely disagree with that, for it is the written word and given by God for our:
2Ti 3:16All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I think I would never of had this job, if you took the Bible away. and when we die off, as George Jones said, who is going to fill his shoes. This is the way God fixed it with the "written" word and the "word which was made flesh", One is God, the other one is the written word.

I missed your post Dr. Bob, and by you missing the thread, you didn't miss much, as you surmised. Some will worship a Bible, and some will worship the Word.

wasn't going to respond to this, really, but you mentioned me! lol
Ive never gotten any inkling from anything Hyles or Schaap have ever said that they believed that the KJV is God. However, brother TinyTim, I can also concede that I could be wrong and this is my opinion. :) I have no idea how they come across to most other people around the country....know what I mean? I can only testify of what I have gotten out of sermons. There's alot of "hero worship" in the Hammond circles....one of my pet peeves actually.

But as far as I can tell there has never been any teaching, either explicit or implied, that was intended to portray the Bible as synonymous with God Himself. There's alot of talk about the "God of the Bible", which I think we'd all agree with. RIght?

Yes there is a lot of "hero" worship in Hammond. THey actually built a statue of hyles outside the new $17M building.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Jack Hyles is in Heaven right now.

Also, I am afraid he made many people twofold the children of hell.

Were any of you aware that Hyles taught that is a "soulwinner" used another version other than the KJV, it wasn't a valid conversion, the person was still lost?
