Is the Sermon on the Mount to and for us today then?

All Scripture is to us and for us today.
Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It is a very mistaken teaching that salami-slices the word of God.

By believing it and obeying it.
Did Jesus mean them for now, for the future Kingdom age, or to reveal to us just what keeping the Law really meant to God?

The whole Bible is for us right now. I don't think I can be any clearer than that.
BTW, right now is the Kingdom age (e.g. Luke 11:20).

Yes, but question still is did Jesus intend that sermon to actually be the way we are to live now in his Kingdom?

So which parts of the Sermon do you not wish to live out?
Are you finding meekness a strain? Or are you fed up with hungering and thirsting after righteousness? Or is it loving your enemies?

I think that the Lord Jesus was showing to us, especially the Pharisees, just how far from keeping the law as God demands we all are!

I don't see why anyone would think that the sermon on the mount would not be for modern man.
1.The B Attitudes alone offer comfort and assurance to people going through a multitude of trials.
2.Christians are reminded to seek to please God by praying in secret in order to be seen and heard by God and not for the praise of men.
3. Jesus wants us to be salt and light.
4.Guard your thoughts because even your thoughts can equate to sin.
5. Rules for divorce are given.
6. The Lord's Prayer is given as a model for our prayers.
7.Recognize God as your provider as He provides for the fowls of the air and lilies of the field.
8. Hypocrisy is illustrated and we are told to repent of it - "First cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."
9. Beware of false prophets......"ye shall know them by their fruits."
10. Know and do His words, and be like the wise man who built his house on the rock.
