Is the U.S. a Force for Good in the World?

First of all, in terms of popularity worldwide, the U.S. is a mixed picture. A Gallup International poll of 65 countries, issued on 30 December 2013, found that:

“The US was the overwhelming choice (24% of respondents) for the country that represents the greatest threat to peace in the world today. This was followed by Pakistan (8%), China (6%), North Korea, Israel and Iran (5%). Respondents in Russia (54%), China (49%) and Bosnia (49%) were the most fearful of the US as a threat.”

(Some of the reasons why America is considered, by people throughout the world, to be the biggest threat to peace, will be documented below.)

More details in that poll were reported here. This poll also found some marginal advantages for America in the country’s reputation as a place to live. It found that:

Good. Our enemies should fear us.

I hope they always will.

Why are congressional Democrats such slow learners, taking nearly seven years to know what they should have recognized even back then — that he’s (Obama) actually just a closeted Republican, a conservative Manchurian Candidate, a Trojan Horse from the CIA?

Hide Poncho. The GOP enthusiasts are gonna come after you for saying that their sworn enemy is a closeted member of their party.

I have an idea, let's elect Rand Paul and begin an era of American isolationism worldwide for 8 years and let's see what happens to the world. DO you feel the world will be better off without us?

That would be non-interventionism. I'm getting tired of explaining the difference.

And yes.

I'd LOVE to see us do just that! No intervention whatsoever, only a strong defense.

Poncho, what you do not know is that G. Bush was considered the most dangerous man in the world for peace by Europeans. I was in Prague the last 4 years he was in office and he was truly feared and hated by just about every European I met.

The fear and hatred that new exists is to a great extent a hold-over from the Bush years.

To his credit. They also knew he meant what he said.

Again, to his credit.

You probably circulated only among the rich and powerful Crabby, just like Bill and Hillary!

If it were not for this country Europe would be enjoying life under the "jack booted thugs" {Borrowing a phrase from Turbin Durbin that he used to describe American soldiers.} from either Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.

There are times when I think like the Ponch or the hillbilly from Kentucky and believe we should let the world go its way. I hate to see another American serviceman die for those elitist idiots in Europe, the entire Middle east, and the rest of the world. But common sense prevails!

Old, you think that seminary students from Central and Eastern Europe are rich? Under the Communists Baptist were not allowed to go to college or to get a decent job. Rich? Hardly. Of course I doubt you cared a hoot how Baptist were treated in Communist countries.

To the young this is ancient history. It is what the USA does now that counts.

This has nothing to do with how Europe views the USA. They were so relieved when Bush finally left office with no war stared in Europe by him.

What you don't know or can't bring yourself to admit Crabby is that both the Bush's and both the Clintons as well as Obama all represent the same corporate interests.

It's the "moneyed interests" policies that makes the Europeans hate and fear the US.

Let me explain further, Bill Clinton's policies were driven by the corporate elite, both Bush's policies were driven by the corporate elite, Obama's policies are driven by the corporate elite.

The corporate elite are those people who have enough money and clout to drive every president's policies regardless of which party he/she belongs to.

In other words . . .

The left vs right argument is a scam to keep us divided.

Get it?

On balance...after all considerations and acknowledging our failures...yes, absolutely yes.

I'd love to see a list of "all" your considerations.

I know you aren't being on the up now. Neocons never acknowledge their failures they just call for more and bigger of what made their adventures in militarism failures in the first place.

Unless they can blame the "other side" as in democrats or those spreading "anti American" propaganda aka the people asking questions and keeping score of all the neocon's lies.
