I've often posted that Rush Limbaugh is the master at innuendo, suggestion, and leading questions. I'm beginning to think that Trump is better than Rush. Consider.
Like Rush, Trump says a lot of things that are open-ended that allows individual listeners to fill in the blanks like "Make America Great Again". What does that mean, exactly? Well, it means whatever the individual takes it to mean. Maybe it means military might. Maybe it means full employment. Maybe it means kicking out illegal immigrants. Maybe it means low taxes. It means whatever.
Trump's insulting of women. He said Rosie O'Donnell was a fat slob and Carly Fiorina didn't have the face of a President. This looks like a huge political gaffe but from a marketing standpoint he'll probably gain voters. Most men (and many women), would agree that Rosie O'Donnell is less than a beautiful, well behaved woman. Therefore Trump is winning points for "being honest." Most men and many women probably don't think Carly Fiorina is exceptionally pretty and there is a good number of women that just don't take to the idea of women holding power or usurping power over men. So he probably scores points here as well.
Trump's immigration policy. What is it?
Build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.
Change the 14th amendment to ban anchor babies.
Deport 10 million illegals.
Trump is a negotiator and he knows to ask for the world and then scale back and settle on what you really want. He knows he'll never change the 14th amendment and he knows he'll never get the U.S. to deport 10 million people. But perhaps he really only wants the wall. By framing his policy with these other unachieveable elements he can appear to be compromising when he throws his opponents these bones and zeroes in on the wall.
Getting Mexico to pay for the wall? Simple analogy he can use in a debate--If your neighbor's dog continues to come in your yard and poop in your lawn, dig up your garden, and be a general pest, you would tell your neighbor to either put up a fence or you're going to shoot the dog. Pretty soon that fence would be put up and your neighbor will have paid for it. And who knows? Trump could make the fence into some sort of a tourist attraction with proceeds going back to Mexico.
The thing where he kicked the Univision reporter out of his press conference was basically Trump deporting the guy, then inviting him back in.
