So I had a huge bald eagle lunching in my yard a couple of days ago. I watched for awhile before stepping in to get my phone. Stunning.

Better be cautious with this jewel; looks too much like he would have YOU for lunch!!!
The eagle got disturbed by a passerby car backing up to take a better look. The eagle flew up in a pine tree, then I lost sight of him, so I went over to see what he was eating. Appeared to be what was left of a possum, I wanted to check because of having a big 20yr old cat outside at that time. Went back in & of course that was when the dogs HAD to go out. Two Havanese. Snack size. Looked up & saw the eagle back in a tree above his kill. Tried to hustle up the dogs. He watched us the whole time. He then just flew off, & within 20 minutes a vulture was cleaning up. Nothing left. And as Paul Harvey used to say…….and now you know the rest of the story.
Yeah, when we moved here it was a dirt road, not much traffic. Fortunately the house is way off the road so the dust was tolerable. Now, it’s still a back road, paved now….& if you stay on it for about 5 miles, you end up between Sam’s Club & Walmart. Needless to say, that increased traffic. We have Amish neighbors who work the field next to us, so it still feels pretty country.Lol, sounds like the hassles of 'country living' now...
