I don't think this is an IFB board. I am SBC myself.

I'm just a plain ol'Baptist...who loves the old ways, the old paths, the good way, the straight way and who believes the kjBible truly is the ONLY word of God that is absolutely PERFECT, just like its AUTHOR.

I don't think there's a majority concencus on this board. Most are either SBC or IFB, but there doesn't appear to be a majority of one over another.

    I'm SBC, btw.

    You forgot to mention one:

If you're conservative in your politics, you will still get blasted by those conservatives who are more conservative than you.

No, we should not condemn them with snide remarks and sledges. However, we do need to point out the error of KJVOism, and also point out that, since KJVOism requires the addition of doctrine to Christian fundamentals, an IFB church that requires KJVOism is not really Fundamentalist, and should probably be more accurately be described as IB, rather than IFB. This can be done respectfully without snide remarks and sledges.

That was covered by the comment that everyone is a liberal according to everyone else when commenting on the conservatives. [IMG]

[IMG] :D Welcome to the board and AMEN Bro.Lewis!! I'm a currently "semi-retired" IFB who is now going to an SBC church with a firebrand young preacher that preaches the Book, the Blood, and the Blessed Hope....and boy does he PREACH...!Many of the local IFB's around here haven't impressed me much and tend to "shoot their own wounded" with alarming regularity.I re-dedicated my life to the Lord this past year after a lengthy bad time in which the Lord had to do some serious chastizing. All I can say is that I am thankful to God for His merciful, longsuffering love.I was attending this SBC church when the Lord got my attention and God has blessed me tremendously over the course of this year.
As for the KJV forum they are directing you to....PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT...and cinch it up TIGHT.The MV'ers and "educated" TEXTUAL CRITICS hold court here...and their opinions(which they are perfectly entitled to)seem to be the dominant ones.I'm a dedicated KJV man because I have chosen to accept the EVIDENCE I have studied. They take the opposite position.
As Tiny Tim once remarked..."Gob Bless Us All!"

what about a follower of Christ who just so happens is a member of a Baptist Church?

I wonder how many "Baptists" will enter into the kingdom of God because they belong to the Baptist denomination.

If I were a gambling man I would be willing to bet every thing that God has blessed me with that the number would be a big FAT ZERO!
Jesus Said I AM the Way the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father BUT BY ME.

any one ever wonder what God thinks about all this denominational sludge?
I think we should concern ourselves with Loving God with all or our mind , Body and spirit to love one another as we love our selves and let these denominational boundarys fall by the wayside!

ARcheryaddict, I tend to agree with you on denominational sludge; but I do have a tendency to be careful in this arena and I will try to explain why. I am NOT disagreeing with you, just giving you another point of view and a danger that I have personally seen in criticizing the fact that we DO have denominations (some better, some worse).

I kept hearing this very same argument from a co-worker; day after day after day. Guess what, he went to a non-denominational church. Guess what, he was Pentecostal and about as far from Baptist as you can get without completely ignoring Jesus as the Son of God.

For THIS reason and this reason only, I cringe when someone makes a remark about denominations. At least with denominations, we can define those that fit the Bible the best. Is it a perfect system? Absolutely not. It is made up of humans.

At least, if I go to a certain type of Baptist Church in another city, I do not have to visit every single church in town to find one that is close to the Bible. I can narrow my search quickly, and then I can choose which do the best job of sticking with scripture (the final authority). Does this make sense?

Otherwise, without denominations, I could walk into a Mormon church and never know it until I had visited for a month--depending on what the church is doing and what the pastor just happens to be preaching about. I have relatives in the Mormon church and having visited them, I can say they can preach a VERY Bibically 'sound' doctrine, when they know a Baptist is sitting in the pew trying to catch them on one of their "far out" beliefs.

Archeryaddict & Phillip, I agree with both of you!
The Lord saved me in a non denomanational church in MO, but when I moved to MA, I found out Baptist was what I agreed with, I was young and do not even know if it was SBC or independant. In Germany it was to hard to stay awake in the SBC so I went independant it was wonderful till a new pastor came and started putting his laws on everyone.I have found SBC churches where the decons run the whole show not the congragation, that is as bad as it gets some times.Right now the Lord has me in a SBC church that I am really enjoying. I have been hurt bad in a independant and a SBC church and non Baptist ones. The devil wants to be where he can hurt the most! Alot of people get hurt in churches and stop going, that is exactly what the devil wants.
