I was looking at the doctrine statement of a mission board.
For the "Holy Scripture" it states in part:
"The King James Version of the Bible is to be used publicly by (our) missionaries in English-speaking ministries. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)"
So are they really KJO? other thoughts?

Sounds like a KJV Only statement, even though “only” is not in it.

By saying “the King James Version of the Bible is to be used…”, it would rule out by implication any other version.

The provided verses aren't the typical go-to "proof texts" used by KJVO defenders. At the very least, I would assume that they are KJV-preferred.

If your Lit. teacher tells you to bring a copy of Robin Hood to class, does it matter which one you bring?

  • Pierce Egan the Younger — Robin Hood and Little John (1840)
  • Howard Pyle — The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (1883)
  • Henry Gilbert — Robin Hood
  • Roger Lancelyn Green — The Adventures of Robin Hood (1956)
  • Enid Blyton — The Adventures of Robin Hood
Or can everyone follow along in their own version?

That would make an interesting class!

I think the Bible is a much more serious issue than Robin Hood.

And that is the point.

It works out better when everyone is on the same page.

As it relates to missions, I would assume that it doesn’t mean that the missionary must use the English KJV in a country that doesn’t speak English.

Stranger things have been though.
