1Cr 6:11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

How can you be santified and committing adultery the same time? Santified is to be Holy, is committing adultery Holy, I don't think so. Because you have the blood of Christ then does that make adultery Holy, I don't think so.

There is a difference between the two, correct?

    Or are they the same?

What is it to be justified?

What is it to be sanctified?

Justified is to be saved by the blood of Christ and sanctified is to be made a new creature, they both go together as far as I can determine.

Yes there is a difference, and no they are not the same.
"It is the judicial act of God, by which he pardons all the sins of those who believe in Christ, and accounts, accepts, and treats them as righteous in the eye of the law." (Easton's Bible Dictionary)
It is a one time act.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
--When we believe on Christ, God justifies us, forgives our sins, and gives us a standing before God "just as if we never sinned."
The word sanctification means literally "set apart."
We are initially set apart from the world and toward God at the tme of salvation.
But sanctification is an on-going process. As we grow and mature as Christian, we continue to set ourselves apart from sin according to the light given us in the Word of God. Some grow at faster rates than others. Sanctify yourselves. Set yourselves apart from sin.

This thread involves both justificaton (salvation) and sanctification), in that Bob believes one can lose his state of justification if he commits a great enough sin. The question originally posted: Suppose one committed a heinous sin (such as adultery), and then suddenly died of a heart attack before he had a chance to confess that sin to the Lord. Dying with such unconfessed sin, would he go to heaven or not? Bob says: "Absolutely not!" Not only has he lost his sanctification (he has not set himself apart from sin as a Christian), but he has lost his standing with God himself in that he is no longer a Christian. I believe that to be heresy. And that is where the crux of the matter is.

I suspect that DHK does have to have his done over and over. The Apostles were sanctified and sent forth to preach the Gospel. It says above that they were sinners at one time but were washed in the blood and justified and sanctified. I am sure DHK has to have his redone according to his posts. The Lord will not dwell in an unclean temple (sanctified temple) and he does dwell in his children.

1Jo 4:13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. (If its not sanctified, its He is not there).

    Sanctify is to make Holy

    Justify is to be saved.

    1 Cor. 3:
16: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17: If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

You have already admitted that you are not sinless. You have lied and committed other sins. Any sin defiles the temple. So why haven't you been destroyed yet?
It does no good to take Scripture out of context does it?

You err greatly not knowing the inward man and the outward man. You will never get it right until you learn

Sin is sin Bob. I don't buy into you dual classification of sin, and I don't believe that there are many here that do.

There is a consequence for sin. Different sins bring different consequences. That is very true. But that is looking at sin from man's point of view. We must learn to look at sin from God's point of view, not simply man's point of view. From God's point of view all sin is a stench in His sight. It doesn't matter what the sin is. It stinks. It is as filthy rags. It is an abomination in the sight of God. Sin is sin. It is transgression of the law of God. It is missing the mark of God's holiness. And telling a lie in that respect is just as bad as murder or adultery.

Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

A person who commits adultery may go to heaven. He may even go to heaven while he is in the act of committing adultery. His sins are covered by the blood.

You can't have it both ways DHK:

I mean, if you want to agree now that any sin will keep you out of Heaven then I will be glad to agree with you. That is not what you been saying though.

    A righteous man still sins.

God's love still covers a multitude of sins. Otherwise He would have no grace.

Eccl. 7:20, "Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins."

Yes it is. All sin, any sin will keep a perosn out of heaven. That is why Christ came to die for our sin--to pay the penalty for our siin--a penalty that we could never pay. When we accept that payment for our sins he justifies us--makes us just as if we had never sinned. The slate is wiped clean. He remembers our sins no more. They are all forgiven--past, present, and future.

However in the same way, a believer can sin. Any believer can commit any sin. He is capable of committing any sin. We are fallible creatures with a sin nature, and that sin nature has not been eradictated. Inasmuch as David committed adultery don't you think that you are above committing the same thing. You aren't. It is possible for you to commit the same sin as well.
If a believer commits adultery and it is not confessed he will still go to heaven.
If a believer tells a lie and it is not confessed he will still go to heaven.
Sin is sin. It will keep the unbeliever out of heaven; but it willl not keep the believer from getting into heaven. His sin has already been paid for. Nevertheless he doesn't have a licence to sin. Any saved individual has the desire in his heart to be more like His Master--Jesus Christ.
But it is not your duty to judge the heart. If a believer should fall into sin, who are you to judge if that person is going to heaven or hell. God condemns that person who judges such.

So, we back to the blood of Jesus is a "ticket" to unconfessed sins of any type, even adultery. God help us for the time of fables is surely at hand.

With the amount of adultery going on that must, no doubt, be rampant in your area, I am glad I/we don't live there, personally. I would not want to be so tempted, nor have my wife so tempted, nor any of the rest of my family exposed to such!

Better we should live where the worst we have to continually face is gossip and character assassination, cheating on taxes, political lies, and such like!

With only a little lust thrown in!

    Oh yeah! And the local preachers whose attendance figures all added together would say that 125% of the population of the county is attending church services on about every Sunday! :rolleyes: {sigh!}

Gotta go, for now. It's 'prayer time'. Think I'll take one from Scripture.

"Lord, I thank Thee that I'm not like these othe...!"

So, we back to the blood of Jesus is a "ticket" to unconfessed sins of any type, even adultery. God help us for the time of fables is surely at hand.by Bob

Bob, you are the only on here making that claim. Hve youever read these verses? Heb 12:5-8 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Bob, The only "fables" are coming from your side of this issue.

    1. Christ died once, Heb.7:27
    2. A person accepts Christ once, Rom. 10:13
    3. Positionally we are already in Heaven, Eph.2:6
    4. We can not be cast out, Jn.6:37-39
    5. "When" we sin, we can ask forgiveness, IJn. 1:9
    6. When we sin and we don't ask forgiveness we will be chastened, Heb.12

Why is this so hard for you to see?

Well, at least you give yourself away by praying the prayer of the one in self righteous and I hope I am the one who bows my head and say, Lord forgive me a sinner.

    Luke 18:
11: The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12: I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13: And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Sad, you have to make fun of those who try to live close to God while giving a "Get out of jail free ticket" to others who are in adultery or I will just use the scriptures, you say that if they are washed in the blood then the following sins don't count against them.

    1 Cor 6
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

    You are breaking this scripture big time Ed;
15: What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
