Is This King James Version a Modern Version?

I've known for years that the text of the KJV used in the New Scofield Reference Bible doesn't always agree with other KJV editions. This morning I decided to see for myself just how much the Scofield KJV differs from others.

In the New Scofield Reference Bible some replacement words become part of the Bible text while the words being raplaced are moved to the center column references.

Using only the references and text of the Scofield, I counted 115 such differences noted in the first 25 chapters of Genesis. There were 21 such differences noted in Gen. 24 alone.

Here are just a few examples of differences in the Scofield KJV:

In Gen 1:28 and in Gen. 9:1 "replenish" becomes "fill" in the Scoifield KJV.

In Gen 3:5 "gods" becomes "God."

In Gen. 11:8 "left off to build" becomes "ceased building."

In Gen 14:11 "victuals" (that's "vittles" to folks like me with southern roots :laugh: ) becomes "food supplies."

In Gen 18:19 "justice and judgment" becomes "righteousness and jusice."

In Gen 25:8 "gave up the ghost and died " becomes "died."

Not only does the Scofield KJV use some different words, it also omits some words found in other KJVs (see Gen 25:8 example above).

Do these differences make the Scofield KJV a "modern version?"

Do any KJVOs here use the New Scofield Reference Bible? If so, how do you feel about the diferences in the KJV texts?

An important part of any translation or edition is the preface or introduction.
I've got the old Scofield and the New one.
Memorized most of the Scripture I know in a "self-modernized" version of the "new".

INTRODUCTION TO THE 1967 EDITION​

…[T]he Oxford University Press invited a committee of nine men to revise again the Scofield Reference Bible. This committee undertook the task with deep appreciation of the profound influence that this esteemed edition of the Scriptures has had upon multitudes of readers.
Among the changes and improvements in this edition are: important word changes in the text to help the reader (see below);

This is not a new translation of the Hebrew and Greek tests. Whereas the English text is definitely the King James Version, word changes have been made when clarification is needed. The principle adoped by the committee of revision is as follows:

(1) obsolete and archaic words;

(2) words that have altered their meaning;

(3) indelicate words or expressions;

(4) relative pronouns, e.g. “which” to “who” when referring to persons;

(5) proper names to make them conform, e.g. “Elias” in the N.T. has been changed to “”Elijah,” as in the O.T.; and

(6) in some few instances incorrect translation has been clarified.

Virtually all changes as denoted in (1), (2), (3), and (6) are indicated by special markings, i.e. “|precede|” in the text with the KJV word shown in the margin.
Changes in proper nouns or in their spelling have been compiled and appear in the back of the book.
