freedom of speech doesn't apply to a private web site's message board, they can censor anything they want to censor.

    Kubel,

I sometimes chose to dialogue with unbelievers for the purpose of reaching them with whatever light I can shine. I accept their rules or I chose not to engage in the discussion. I even wrote a few posts to the IIDB (Internet Infidels Discussion Board) after being invited there by a member who was on a Christian site.

Whether or not you can have more of an impact by staying and discussing within their guidelines or whether you draw them closer to the Lord by leaving the table is a call that you must make. Just remember that Jesus seemed to be more tolerant of the openly sinful than the outwardly religious. He did not excuse their sin, but neither did He usually try to rub their noses in it.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Sample,

its a way to "resurrect" a thread that for some reason the "bumper" feels needs rediscussing, or perhaps they think it has some good ideas in it that need to be noticed again.

At least, thats usually why people "bump".

Essentially, it means "bumping this back up to the top, so it gets noticed again by everybody else."

When there has been no acitivity on a thread for a while, its originator will often simply post "bump". It moves it back to the top of the page . . and hopefully someone will jump back in and revive it.

This thread was active just a week a go and I believe RFW is "bumping" it back for discussion.

It is MORE proper to actually bump it by adding some new or relative point, but with so many threads (and not many who go to page 2 or further in the thread page to look for subjects) it all works.

Now that "I" am posting, it will bump it back to the top again!

I think saying "I understand" and then using another verse is mocking and rebellious.

I think saying "I don't understand" and politely explaining why that verse is important to you and why you wish to keep it as a sig is glorifying to God. If they still have a problem, then the shaking the dust off your sandals suggestion is a good biblical example to follow.

I also have a feeling there is more to the story than a simple verse in a sig.

I may be wrong, but when the disciples were told to shake the dust off their feet, they were or had been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel only.

Now I am personally wary of the notion arising in myself to shake the dust off my feet in regards to anyone.

    Just my opinion.

    You think?? [IMG]

I personally find it offensive to my faith to be told NOT to use a Bible verse or such in my sig line. That is called "discrimination" based on religion.

If someone can have a saying of Buddha or Neitzsche or Tim Allen, then having a verse from GOD is not out of line.

I don't know if Paul and Barnabas would agree with that. Maybe they would since it was still Jews in Acts 13.

    Dear Brother Bob and GoldDragon,
All I can say is that you can take the hillbilly away from the dispy, but you can't take the dispy all the way out of the hillbilly [IMG]

Anyway, I did qualify my statement by saying that I may be wrong [IMG] and I may very well be

I agree that where others are able to share their faith by their signatures so should Christians, but I also know, as do you that the Spirit of Antichrist is working overtime.

Besides, the post asking how long a pagan signature would last on the BB has a point, imho, I would think the best approach is to use Grace.

It is an offense that has occurred but not against a Christian rather against Christ. Could not a signature be chosen that would not dishonor God nor Christ but would also not be openly offensive to the heathen and yet provide the opportunity to witness to the truth on occassion?

    May God Bless,

Your use of that qualification gave me hope for you dispies. You'll usually find me strongly opposing dispensationalists, primarly because of the resistance of dispensationalists to add such qualifications. I have a similar beef with Calvinists.

I have no problems with dispensationalism as one possible framework for biblical interpretation and Calvinism as one possible framework for understanding soteriology. I believe both to have sound biblical basis even though they are also both wrong about many things. It is when Calvinists and dispensationalists "have it all figured out" so that everyone else is wrong that I have a problem. And the hyper versions are just completely messed up examples of what happens when men take their errant and fallible interpretations too seriously.

I guess I've really hijacked this thread with my rantings now, haven't I. Sorry. ;)
