Isaiah 52:1-15: Messianic Comfort for True Zionists

It is always needful to keep in mind to whom these passages are written. Some commentators place too much emphasis on Isaiah’s time, others make much of the application to the post-exilic era. Granted, these verses were certainly a great help for those who returned to Israel to rebuild. Others, dismissing out of hand Preterist possibilities, throw the grandest fulfillments here to their far-fetched future. Proof of this is seen in the citations below of Albert Barnes and the Jamieson, Fausset, Brown Bible Commentary.

Prominent verses in this 52nd chapter show that the primary focus is on the times of Messiah and the blessed afterward result. Isa. 52:5, 7, 11, 15 are cited, respectively in Rom. 2:24; 10:15; 2 Cor. 6:17, and Rom. 15:21. Article linked below

Excellent article Tom. Always glad to see your posts.

"...The very next verse 11 reads “Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing”, the very passage that Paul quoted to the Corinthians, 2 Cor. 6:17, in his plea for their sanctification. The Old Testament’s use for this was a prophetic warning for those still in physical Babylon to flee when the time comes, to return physically and spiritually to Zion. For Paul the emphasis was on leaving the Old Covenant system, the spiritual Babylon and coming to the spiritual Zion, Heb. 12:22- 24. Moreover, to stay in Babylon was to remain a prisoner, Gal. 4:24 – 28. Babylon was code in the New Testament for the earthly Jerusalem...."

Revelation Chapter 18

4

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues:

Acts Chapter 2

40

And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.

Thanks, brother. Yes, a lot more could be written on this wonderful subject. Wonderful for Christians, tragic for those who didn't recognize their Messiah.

I have several other Isaiah articles that, for some reason, never left my notes. So, Lord-willing, I have a project to keep me busy, along with other writing projects.

Right now we are in Quito. We will leave for Panama City in a few days, where I can buy a replacement for the camera that was stolen from me in Nazca. I was really angry and disgusted for a good while, but later I just realized that this is out of my control. Eventually everything we have on this earth is taken from us. It's always good to upload the truly important things up to where thieves do not steal.

Do you have a copy of the 'Bible' you are talking about?

"For if He were on Earth, He should not be a Priest."

The Old Covenant Promises to Israel were Fulfilled in New Covenant Israel.

"The Old Testament (as understood by Premillennialists) is Israel-centered rather than God centered.

"But the New Testament reveals that the History, Ordinances, and indeed the very nation of Israel itself
were types and shadows of Spiritual Realities that would come in Christ;

Colossians 2:17; "Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

Hebrews 8:1-5; "Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum:
We have such an High Priest, Who is Set on the Right Hand of the Throne of the Majesty in the Heavens;

2; "A Minister of the Sanctuary, and of the True Tabernacle, which the Lord Pitched, and not man.

3; "For every High Priest is Ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this Man have somewhat also to Offer.

4; "For if He were on Earth, He should not be a Priest,..."

At that time shall a fountain blessing be opened up in Jerusalem, and all eyes shall see Him at second coming, and all Jews shall grieve over him, and will at that time say blessed in He who comes in the name of the Lord
