Isaiah 6:6-7

In Isaiah 6:6-7 we read about Isaiah' vision wherein one of the seraphim takes a live coal from the altar and touches Isaiah's lips, thereby purging Isaiah of his iniquities.

This has often puzzled me because it seems as though Isaiah gets saved because of that. IOW, I know of nowhere else in the Bible that teaches this as the way a person has his iniquities taken away.

My Bible tells me that a sincere person only has his iniquities purged is by receiving Christ as his own personal Savior.

Please explain how what happened to Isaiah is in full agreement with the way that John or Paul tells us in their epistles that only by trusting in Christ as one's own personal Savior can purge us from our iniquities.

Isaiah is made aware of his sinful nature and is grieved over it. The burning coal (fire) is representative of God's purifying fire and cleansing power.

I agree and add that burning coal that touched Isaiah's lips was representative of the Gospel, not the written word but the Living Word whereby all our sins are taken away by Jesus Christ as Isaiah's also was... Brother Glen
