Isn't it true that God has used the NIV Just as much as the KJV, Past 35 yrs?

The KJVO love to oint out the Kjv is most published/sold/osed/read version of the Bible...

But hasn't the lord actually used the Niv just as much to reach sinners, and teach saved past 4 decade?

I am a Nasp, but how would the Kjvo explain the Lord using that Niv translation so much?

God has used believers to spread the gospel. It doesn't matter if the person used the KJV or the NIV or the NASB. God has never used the KJV nor the NIV.

Do yuo agree that God seems to have used as His word of god tio us the Niv transaltion? As that has been most popular version for yeras, even outselling the Kjv!

I am a Nasp, but many of the KJVO like to use as a sign that the Kjv is mostread/used/sold, but since the Niv has done all those past several yeras, than?

I was thinking about it last night and I realized that I didn't grow up with the KJV at all. I just assumed I did but then I realized:

When we were saved, my mom was using the Living Bible.

Then I went to a Christian school under the Dutch Reformed Church so we used the RSV.

Oh wait - I DID use it for a couple of years when I went to an American Baptist Church in the late 70s, so I did use it for a little while.

Then I went to the Presbyterian Church who used the 84NIV and I used that for many years.

Somewhere in there I picked up the NASB for study - I think it was when I was still in the ABC.

When the ESV came out, I did some looking into it and liked it so I got one but didn't fully use it for a year or so and then I switched. I still have my NASB and 84NIV though.

So, I was saved, my entire family was saved (18 members of my extended family were saved within 6 months of my mom being saved) - all out of the Living Bible!! Other than those few years, I didn't use the KJV. Don't get me wrong - it's a great version but in my life, it was not the Bible that my churches used other than the couple of years in the ABC.

But yes, I do say that God has used the NIV greatly - as He has the KJV, ESV, NASB and even the Living Bible.

a big selling point for the KJVO position is that the Lord has used the Kjv so much, it has sold so many times, been rread so much in churches and by Christian etc... MUST be the word of God

When someone can show me in Scripture, that the KJV is the ONLY authorized verision of the Lord (and not the King of Englad) - than I shall believe the false doctrine of KJO.

Winman...that is an excellent demonstration of the source of division and discord right here on the Baptist Board. Proverbs chapter 6 speaks directly to this kind of thing as follows:

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (emphasis mine)

As I see it..all we are trying to do is convince people that there is a Bible, the Word of God, in our day, that people can trust as accurate and reliable as well as inspired and preserved....yet we are continually accused of being the ones who are the sowers of discord. I do get a bit tired of being reviled so much but I guess it goes with this territory. The evidence we have seen over the years that supports our position is rock solid.... but it will always leave us at an impasse with those who take the contrary position. All we can do is pray that God will somehow open their eyes and give them the light that He gave us. We must be firm in our belief, yet humble and not arrogant :tear: as some seem to be (on BOTH sides of the argument). I have said before and will repeat here how thankful I will be that God will make it all plain to those of us who know Him at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

That is not the point and you know it. The point is that KJVO folks are continuously accused of causing division, when in reality it is often the opponents of KJVO that start the trouble and will not let the issue rest.
