Israel Offers Free Abortions, U.S. Taxpayer-Funded

In 2014, the government of Israel will pay to abort babies for any woman aged 20 to 33 regardless of the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy if, as expected, a health commission’s recommendations are instituted.

Government health officials expect to pick up the tab for 6,300 or so abortions over the course of the year, reports Haaretz. The total cost of all the procedures will be approximately $4.5 million. The estimated cost per abortion will be just over $700 (about 2,500 Israeli shekels).

Yes. He wouldn't argue that the federal government funds Planned Parenthood abortions, because they use "private money" for those. But if they didn't get federal $$$, they couldn't use contributions to cover the cost of abortions.

The difference is that Israel would provide these abortions at their own federal cost whether they were getting U.S. foreign military aid or not. Planned Parenthood couldn't afford to do as many abortions as they do without federal tax dollars bolstering their other "family planning" services.

You may be right, they very well could, and probably would provide such, even without military aid from the US. Issues today are very complex, aren't they?

It is not quite the same. No one gives us aid to free up other money for anything.

But we have given Israel a blank check for too long and our completely one-sided mid-east policy has resulted in us having many problems that we would not have if we had followed a balanced foreign policy.

Israel dates to President Truman so I would like to know what the Democrats intend to do about Israel. It seems to me that all aid to Israel should be stopped. However, Islam still needs to be contained and we need to find sources of oil outside of Islamic countries.
