What would you consider a "liberal" in the Republican Party? Most of the real liberals like Lincoln Chafee are gone now, those who you deem "liberal" are really centrists or moderate conservatives.

They are still liberals - they just call themselves moderates - aka PC lanuage

No. Time to take back the Republican party. It can be done.

Yes, it is time to take back the Republican party. We have two years, not four.

"Liberals" and so called "moderates" within the party are pushing to herd true conservatives into a 3rd party corral - multiple corrals, at that.

A house divided cannot stand.

Our demographics have changed, so the GOP is out of step with many. If one educates their children in public schools they are taught to be to the left. Many of my friends who are along with me, way to the right have children who are teachers in public schools who were big BHO backers. I know many of our new illegal immigrants and many of our legal ones are way to the left of the conservatives we have. Watch TV and movies and so often the government and big corporations are the bad guys. Times have changed! Also so many workers want promotion on time in grade and not quality of work.
We can change the GOP but if it keeps my values, their chance of winning isn't good.

The problem with the Republicans is they don't walk their talk. The Democrats walk their talk and then some. The Republican Platform was the strongest on life it has ever been and look who was the nominee to represent it - what a joke. And then there was the VP nominee who compromised his 100% position for the ticket. One could see in his face when the topic came up at the VP debate he didn't believe in what he was forced to say. (and I think he will be finished as far as presidential material because of that - just my opinion) This is an integrity problem, folks, and we - or the Republican Party - got what we deserved. I for one am bailing - at least til the integrity returns, if it ever does. I choose to walk my talk and being a Republican doesn't cut it anymore.

"The problem with the Republicans is they don't walk their talk."

The problem with many "Christians" is they don't walk their talk, either.

Should we as members of the body of Christ bail out, "at least til the integrity returns"? Or, should we stay in the church, and do what we can do to affect change?

Yes, we got what we deserved. And, we'll get more of it, if we choose to sit in the shade of some ineffective umbrella instead of picking up a hoe and actually weeding the garden of our own making.

OT, the Republican Party is not the Body of Christ. This has been going on for a long time. Four years ago we nominated an honorable veteran, yes, but hardly the conservative we needed. At least he "deferred" to the platform on the issue of rape and incest. And then the debacle of this year.....however, if I had been working for 4-6 years to ensure my church followed Biblical teachings but it only gave them lip service, I daresay I'd be leaving that church as well for a Biblically sound one. That is called walking the talk.
