And I concede that we can't judge all open carriers on the actions of a few idiots.

Not my cup of tea, though.

Stupid because small of the back carry is dangerous. Not from a shooting POV, but she's more likely to do a slip and fall landing on her back. The pistol would do all kinds of interesting things to her back if she landed on it. Or so I've been told.
I agree. It is also a stupid place to carry because weapon retention is almost impossible in that position.

When I was still in uniform my sidearm was set so that when conducting a field interview I could rest my right elbow on the grip of my holstered duty pistol to prevent the suspect from trying to grab it.

I do something similar when carrying concealed. My pistol is in a high-rise holster on my right hip so I can keep my right arm pressed against it in a crowd.

Weapon retention is one of the things most concealed and open carriers seldom give any consideration to.

(In the interest of full disclosure Weapon Retention is one of the classes I teach in our Basic Firearm Training course.)

But even if nobody tries to take it from her she is still risking serious spinal injury in the event of a fall, as the good Squire noted.

Black on black, hard to see, but try looking closer. ;)
My bad. I saw the top part of the thumb strap; didn't catch the second part flapping in the breeze.

Darwin award waiting to happen, or happen to someone else....

Yeah, I had mine in the same place as you. I used a high ride Safariland level 3. It saved my life one night. A scrum bag tried to disarm me in a fight. He kept trying to unsnap the dummy strap. I had one hand on the weapon and after a couple minutes fighting finally got my backup with the other hand. I stuck it in his left ear hole and cocked the hammer. He froze instantly.

I am glad I no longer live in Jersey. Getting a concealed carry in the Garden State is nigh impossible. Florida? Different story.

Yea, the law in NJ is slanted to the criminals... seems they are the only ones with weapons. I have my baseball bat in the car and was told by a Clifton cop that he could arrest me. You know how that plays out

The Peoples Republic of New Jersey.
Funny, my wife and I were talking about this yesterday. They came into the state from all over the country in the early 70’s, driving up prices, real estate costs, property taxes, traffic everything to the moon....my wife and I would sit at Social gatherings and speak to them, where you from—— Texas, Minnesota, Iowa etc... we were the only ones from NJ (the natives, unable to afford the costs that they drove up with their corporate jobs at AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Merck etc.)
Now they have all fled leaving us the natives with a mess. I sincerely hope that fat Donald’s tax plan finally drives the rest of them out of here and there is some type of economic correction. We will see. But I know I will never get to carry a gun in this draconian state.

I lived in Jersey for several years, in the Cherry Hill area. I had the police chief go to bat for me and I still couldn't get a permit.

Moved to Delaware and got one easy.

Then Florida. Same thing. Easier, actually.

Yea but now you are over run with alligators, tropical storms, heat and humidity... which is not such a bad thing considering Jersey is in the teens.

But back to the original post...did they pass the bill allowing carry from one state to another... if so, I’m going to Florida to get a pistol

Not yet. Here the current list of states that have reciprocal agreements with Florida: Reciprocal Agreements
[Name calling edited] has got to do something about this. He is sworn to uphold the constitution and part of that is the return to bare arms, not draconian state laws where they will arrest you for carrying a baseball bat in your car for Petes sake.

Same reason it's a bad idea for correctional officers to carry their mhand restraints on the back of their belt.
