It's Tough Being a IFB Believer

Have you ever met another believer while out and about, and they ask what denomination you claim? It's tough being a IFB believer.

I tell them I'm a Baptist. They ask, what type of Baptist? I say, I'm a independent fundamental Baptist. They ask, are you a Calvinist?

By the time I explain why I'm not a Calvinist and answer the 3-4 questions associated with it, 10-15 minutes have passed.

They ask, what does it mean that you're an independent? By the time I explain why I'm an independent and answer the 3-4 questions associated with it, another 10-15 minutes have passed.

They ask, I've heard of the fundamentalists, what does that mean? By the time I explain why I'm a fundamentalist and answer the 3-4 questions associated with it, another 10-15 minutes have passed.

They ask, what steered you toward the Baptists? By the time I explain why I'm a Baptist and answer the 3-4 questions associated with it, another 10-15 minutes have passed.

It's tough being a IFB believer!

Can't say I've ever had this conversation when out and about. I did have a visitor to our church once ask me what type of Baptist we were. I simply said Independent Baptist, and they had no follow up questions, and they never came back.

Lol..... the worst of any group give the rest a bad name (I can remember bad experiences with IBF members but the good ones I only remember as fellow Christians).

I am an independent fundamental Baptist and our church is affiliated withe the SBC!
If they ask if I am a Calvinist - I will ask them what Calvinism means to them!

There are 3 fairly large IFB churches near me, along with several other Baptist Churches that don't identify as IFB.

I only know of 1 Calvinist Church in the area.

Every where I go I know some folks in the Church world, always have to chat a while, and I don't mind.

Most of these folks are Church goers and genuinely love the Lord, but they just don't study the Scripture.

They have questions from their step-sisters cousins cousin about the Scripture and the IBF Church.

I'm remodeling the house doing most of the work myself, I go in Lowes and about 2 hours later I'm looking at my watch wondering if I can side step and get out of there.

That was when I started this thread, but in a joking way.
