Wow! I'm not a Calvinist and I don't believe that. God, through the Holy Spirit, must draw and call us to truth, then empower us to faith. We have almost nothing -- but note, I said "almost" -- nothing to do with it, and even what we have to do with it is because God opens our hearts and minds to believe. No, McGee wasn't a Calvinist, if that's what he believed.

Believe that he wanted to make sure that no one would say "I am not one of the elect", and thus refuse Jesus based upon that, as He held to Calvinist views on how God saves sinners, but also that only God knows who they are, and if a person felt convicted/the teaching was making sense to him, accept that as sign you were one of the elect to come to jesus to get saved!

J. Vernon McGee did not believe in Limited Atonement. He believed ALL men could be saved.

Why is this in this discussion forum?

Would this be an ok place to discuss this? Dr. Mcgee has tremendously blessed me with his ministry. He seems to have been presbyterian, but of all I've heard from his mouth he seems to be sure enough baptist. What do you all think? My favorite sermon of his is "portrait of Christ". It's in 3 parts and here is a link to the first. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Edited for link: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xrA3ETKCSgM

Dr. Mcgee is not a Baptist, and this should not be here.
