I see nothing wrong with them. They preach against false religion, and the things that God abhores.

My question is, why are you offended?

A few of Jack Chick's fairy tales are,

    1. The Jesuits assasinated Lincoln

    2. The Roman Catholic Church backed the Confederacy in the Civil War

    3. Alberta Rivera was a ex RCC Priest (Later investigations have shown Rivera to be a fraud and no evidence he was a priest} :(

    4. The Roman Catholic Church was behind WWI and WWII [IMG]

    5. Lincoln was a devout Christian

Jack also teaches that the Catholics are going to kill off other religions in America so that only the Catholic religion remains. He believes they will do this through a New Inquisition that was secretly created for this purpose. The same Inquisition that killed Jews and non-Catholics during Hitler's day and it will happen again here in the USA.
They are also trying to change our Constitution as well as make the Catholic Church the only offical religion in the USA.
    Can we say nut-case?

Reference to these conspiracy theories are found in this tract:

I was deeply disturbed to read the vulgar comment of Mike Mk concerning Chick books and toilet paper.

Vulgar? I thought he was being charitable.

My personal "favourite" Chick tract is "Boo!" - in which Satan trashes a teen Hallowe'en party in a hockey mask and wielding a chainsaw. I haven't a clue what lesson it was supposed to teach, but I do hope the Betty Ford people were able to help him.

I'm offended by the way they portray gays and Catholics.</font>[/QUOTE]I read "God with us" and if you are talking about the name sicko, what would you call them, goodo. Do you agree with their lifestyle, wait a minute, it's not a lifestyle, it's plain SIN! God hates the sin and so do I. If you accept it, then your problem is not with jack Chick, but with God.

We've gone through this before with Lincoln. He never professed. He became more and more convinced of destiny and predestination toward the end of the war, but there is NO record he was ever considered himself a Christian.

Besides, it is the duty of the person who presents the argument to prove it, not the other way around.

(Most of these things are so silly that they don't justify an answer, BTW.)

No, I would call them people whom God so loved that he gave His only begotten Son so that they might be reconciled to Him.

Yes and no. It is a sin and I don't approve of it anymore than I approve of this attitude that those of us un the church seem to have of "I may be a sinner, but at least I'm not as big a sinner as that guy".

On the other hand, there are people who struggle with homosexual tendencies but who don't live out the gay "lifestyle". Chick doesn't differentiate between the two and I think there's a huge difference.

I hate the sin, too. I hate it for a couple of reasons.

One is that God hates it. Second is because it is tremendously damaging emotionally, spiritually, and physically to those who engage in it.

I hate it because it is nothing more than a reaction to alienation and loneliness that holds many untold heartaches for the gay person. Instead of being a safe haven from the hurts that so many of these people have experienced, the gay lifestyle further alienates them from God, who wants to love them and to heal their loneliness and alienation.

I hate it because it is exactly the opposite of everything it promises them.

I don't accept "it", but I do accept "them", just like I believe Jesus would have me do.

I can't speak for anybody but me and I can't tell you or Chick what to do, but I've been hurt and I've been lonely and I've felt like I was on the outside looking in before.

If I were to turn my back on gays and treat them like they were some kind of pariah, I would be a hypocrite and I feel like that would be a slap in the face to Jesus, who died for me, even though I was an enemy of God (Rom 5:8).

Mike, I am not saying to stop witnessing to homosexuals. If you are saying that the trac is bad because if a homosexual where to read it and they came across the word sicko they would stop and throw it down, then to let you know, this sort of thing happens daily with other tracs, someone may be reading it and God convicts them of their sin and they can't handle it, so they get rid of the truth. Just like when a homosexual sees sicko. They say, "sicko!" I'm not a sicko and throws it down. But you and I know that the act they are doing is sick. Sometimes it just takes the plain truth to smack someone in the face to make them think about they are doing.

As far as President Lincoln goes, you are right. I have not see anything stating that he receieved Christ as his saviour, but that does not mean he didn't. I did find one quote that was interesting:

"In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume VII, "Reply to Loyal Colored People of Baltimore upon Presentation of a Bible" (September 7, 1864), p. 542.

He knew something about "this Great Book" and "the good Savior." Maybe he did receive Christ. We'll see when we get to Heaven.

Unfortunately, the American Atheist Society has done much damage to Lincoln. There are numerous publication that assert that Lincoln was an atheist. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Lincoln was a rather private man when it came to his faith. He never made a public statement about his CHristian beliefs. Though he never became an official member of any church, he was a faithful attendee of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington.

It is obvious that Christianity exerted a profound influence on his life. His father was a member of Regular Baptist churches in Kentucky and Indiana. Lincoln himself read the Bible throughout his life, quoted from it extensively, and frequently made use of biblical images (as in the "House Divided" speech of 1858). It was said of him, perhaps with some exaggeration, that he knew by heart much of the Psalms, the book of Isaiah, and the entire New Testament.

Interestingly, while he regularly read and studied the Bible in the oval office, he was not one for saying grace at meals. It appears that Lincoln was was critical of organized religion, attributed to his experiences as a young man in New Salem, Illinois, where excessive bitter sectarian quarrelswere prominent in yearly camp meetings and with traveling preachers.

Lincoln's writings are copious with references to God and his reverence thereto. In his Second Inaugural Address of March 1865, Lincoln writes, "Both [North and South] read the same Bible, and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces; but let us judge not that we be not judged. The prayers of both could not be answered; that of neither has been answered fully. The Almighty has His own purposes."

But what moves me most is an incident where a minister from the North told the president he "hoped the Lord is on our side." Lincoln rebutted, "I am not at all concerned about that... But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side."

I have no doubt that Lincoln was a Christian.

I was saved through Chicks tract. When I pick the tract at my work during breaktime. It convinced me that I am sinner. I took with it home. I never forget that tract called, "Somebody has Goofed"

    It is very good.

That's how it lead me to salvation 6 months later.

One year after my salvation. I attend college in Rochester, NY. My friend invited me visit fundmental independent baptist church. I fell in love with that church. Today I still love that church is a great! I don't mind if I can named that church in this post. That church is First Bible Baptist Church in Rochester, NY, church's pastor is Rev. George Grace.

That church have lot of Chicks tracts and comic books. I fell in love with them.

Alberto Rivera is a real person. Yes, he was a Jesuit. My friends told me, they met Alberto Rivera in person. He came to that church and gave his lecture of his testimony and Roman Catholic too. Yes, he was real Jesuit.

In fact, I urge you to buy a book, "Foxes of the Maryters". It is very good! That book is talking about millions of Christians were killed by Roman Catholic during Spanish Inquistion. It was true horrible story.

You don't believe Roman Catholic was invlove with Nazi during World War II according Rivera's story.

    Yes, it was true story.

Last year Pope John Paul II made his confession that Catholics do evil things against Christians and Jews, and even include Holocaust too. I saw his confession on T.V. No kidding! I am serious!

Lot of Catholic priests are gay. That is fact. Because Catholic not allow priests to be married. That why priests forced boys to sex or molestrate(poor spelling). Many cases are appear daily for many years to today. Catholics have LOT of troubles with the priests. Many males who was kid are against Priests in the court today.

Catholics claims they are against abortion.

Lie. In 1950's a school building in western Europe, someone find countless bones of babies under the building. Also, my friend told me he watched news and newspaper few decades ago(he is now in 60's) they found bones of babies were buried under the school building, that building was sold by Catholic.

The purpose was when priests sex with nuns, when see baby boy, they keep them for getting more priests. If see baby girl, they killed them as abortion.

    That's sad.

    Catholics support gays.

God against sins. Homosexuality is a sinful. But God loves sinners. God desires to see sinners include gays to repent of their sins.

I read article saying, Abraham Lincoln found Christ when he went to Gettysburg, PA after the horrible Civil war fought in Gettysburg. he saw countless of soldiers dead, he knows there is God, he believed in Jesus Christ. Yes, Lincoln is a Christian.

I urge you to read book written by Charles Chinquey. He was a priest for many years, and he lived a Roman Catholic for 50 years. He had a attorney was Abraham Linoln in Illionis in 1850's. Chinquey and Lincoln both become very good friend.

Lincoln told Chinquey, "Civil War is more religion than just a war."

Yes, the jesuits were planned to kill Lincoln, because of Civil War purpose.

In fact, Lincoln was the first Republican President. That why he was shot.

William Tyndale translated English Bible from Greek Bible during years of 1525- 1535 A.D. He was captured by Catholic agent in England. Then later, he was executed by Catholic in 1536. Catholics buried Tyndale's translations and Bibles in 1535.

There were war on manuscripts and Bible translations between Protestants and catholics during Spanish Inquistion.

Apyocraphia was added in 1611 A.V. These 14 books were by Catholic. Later, it was removed from King James Version.

On Satanic worship.... Yes, it is fact and horrible. Chicks books mentioned on them so much. But I decided to stop reading them, because it is dangerous. We should not emphasis on Satan worshipping so much. We should emphasis on Jesus Christ more.

Chicks books talking lot on cults. Yes, it is very important to know the cults, that we ought to avoid and warning to them about the cults.

I have nothing against Chicks tracts and books.

Few things I disagree with them on the story of Manuscripts on the tract - "Attack" is twisted and not true. It said, William Tyndale was excuted in 1525. But, the history telling us, he was excuted in year 1536. Also, it says, One Purtian waved KJV Bible in early 1700's, it said, 1611 A.V. were printed without Ayprocrypha. That was not true.

1611 A.V. was actually printed with it!

I diagree with Chicks, because I am posttribber.

Last summer 2001, I went to Rome, Italy, I given LOT of Chicks tracts to deaf during Deaf World Olypmic Games. I have nothing against Chicks tracts. Because I was saved through Chicks tract!! [IMG]

Then, why you attack against Chicks?

Let you know, Alberto Rivera won LOT of Roman Catholics! He traveled acorss America as evangelist, he won many Catholics to Christ! I am highly respect him!

    In Christ
    Rev. 22:20 - Amen!

You're missing the point. However you or I may feel about homosexuality, there's a right way and a wrong way to treat people.

When Jesus confronted a sinner, I don't know that He ever called them nasty names or drew them in Thomas Nast-like characatures or intentionally tried to portray them a certain way, that both fact and common sense would have told Him wasn't true.

He confronted their sin, ministered to them, forgave them and said "go and sin no more".

I don't see any of that sort of grace in Chick trash.

    That wasn't me.

The burden of proof is upon those making such accusations. If I said President Bush was a Jesuit agent in the white house...the proof is upon me to prove it not you to not prove it. 99.9% of historians would give no credibility to such accusations of Jack Chick.

The devout Lincoln is a myth conjured up by D. James Kennedy and a few others in the Christian right. Lincoln never professed to be a Christian, never went to Church and his war strategy of attacking civilians would make him a war criminal in 21st century terms. What a devout man

In fact, Lincoln was the first Republican President. That why he was shot.

Lincoln's politial partry affiliation had nothing to do with why he was shot. The Republican Party was what the Whig Party evolved into after its demise. The two party system has been alive and well since the beginning.

Lincoln never professed to be a Christian,
That's true, but it does not mean that he wasn't a Christian. My earlier post touches on that.

    [Lincoln] never went to Church
That's not true. He never became a member of a church, but he did attend.

[Lincoln's] war strategy of attacking civilians would make him a war criminal in 21st century terms
That's debatable, but I do see your point of view.

The devout Lincoln is a myth conjured up by D. James Kennedy and a few others in the Christian right.
While I believe Lincoln was a Christian, you're correct that, just as the atheist community had painted a mytholigical picture of him as an atheist, the religious right has also painted a picture of Lincoln as practically a pious saint. I do not. I believe Lincoln, while being Chrstian, was incredibly imperfect when it came to the expression of his faith.

    Warm Christian greetings!

A few days ago I expressed concern about vulgar comments made by Mike Mck regarding toilet paper. I asked for these comments to be deleted. I stated that I had no objections to reasoned debate because this is how we learn, but I cannot agree with "christians" making vulgar comments.

I believe that by allowing this vulgarity to remain on the thread the moderator responsible has allowed the BB to demean itself.

In consequence of this I now resign my membership of the BB as I do not wish to be associated with a "christian" message board that permits vulgarity.

    Kind regards

    Robert J Hutton

I was offended, also, not because I'm a huge Chick Tract fan, but because the comment was hateful, and in very poor taste. Children read this board, as do people who were saved using Chick Tracts.

I'm not against people speaking their mind, but that was horrible, and the point could have been effectively made without being nasty about it.

I calls 'em likes I sees 'em.

However offended you may be by what I said, I"m sure it pales in comparison to the offense and embarrassment we feel when we see these things being done in the name of Christ.

What a slap in the face to Him.
