> I take the point that Jesus didn't mince words, and didn't have one idle word. Ever.

Then he must have been mute most of his life.

John wrote that he selectively only reported important stuff.

This is the disciple who bears witness of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his witness is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books which were written.

And 2000 years later every word Jesus said could be recorded and held in one hand. A video would require two hands.

Jesus did not Reveal Himself by Chatting

As is often the case, this blanket statement conceals an important truth.
The Lord Jesus did reveal Himself through 'chatting' and doubtless does so today.

Acts 11:19. 'Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen travelled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, preaching (Greek laleo) the word to no one but the Jews only. But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch spoke (Greek laleo) to the Hellenists, preaching (Greek euangelizo) the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.'

Euangelizo means to announce good news. Laleo means to speak informally, to 'chat.' So the first great Gentile church was actually evangelized, not by formal preaching, but by informal conversations, 'chatting' the Gospel.

John 21:24-25

John 21:24-25 does not mention what Jesus said, but only what He "did."

Words do not equal material deeds. Unless, of course, one is a Professional Church Talker who makes a living by pretending his words equate with material action.

Lol.

Who gets to decide who "Arrogant Professional Religious Talkers" are? You?

Okay. Have fun with that.

Sensitive? Me??? No, no, no. I'm harsh, callous, liberal and smart enough to see a zinger as it flies across my head. How do you know "Jesus didn't reveal Himself through chatting"? My Bible says he chatted quite often. Matter of fact He had to off into the wilderness to get a little peace and quite and not have to keep talking to all the people who came to hear His "chats". Christ was quite the celebrity.

Do you really believe every single word that came out of Christ's mouth was religious in nature? What do you think He talked about at the wedding in Cana before He turned the water into wine?

Just a few things to think about.

Can you cite from "your bible" where Jesus chatted?

I await the facts. Lol.

Never said he did. But he was human too. You seem to think those two things are incompatible.

Was Jesus human like you are?

Lol.

What makes you think "Chatting!!" is a necessary part of being Godly and Righteous? Is it just kind of an intuitive "Feeling!!" you have ... ?

Why are you speaking about what The Early Evangelists did? This Thread is about Jesus not chatting.

You also need to do some more work on understanding "Laleo" without adding your own ideas to the standard definition of it. "Laleo" has no connotation of informal speech.

From reading your posts, just what do you know about Jesus?

You dont seem to like my Savior much.

What does that have to do with the topic of this thread?

Is the Word of God ever "Chatty!!"? Lol.
You do not understand what Jesus being the Word of God has to do with this topic?

You do not understand the correlation between words and chatting.

The Word of God is Wisdom. Do you think that Jesus spoke of unwise things ever? If you say no, then I guess chatting is excluded.
How do you make a post such as this and lol about my reply? Consider not making posts and laughing out loud at the polite responses.

Try to learn to focus on the topic at hand about Jesus never chatting, rather than focusing on how my words "make you feel." Lol.

Do you assume that "Chatting!!" is a normal and Godly thing for people to do? How do you know it is?

I like The Savior of Scripture much more than you do. In fact, I "like" Him so much that I do not need to remake Him into an image of myself as you do with Him for yourself. Lol.

You apparently are too blind to see it.

Wow, do you just insult people for fun?

There is no reason for your animosity.

Lol.

So the One who spoke the world into existence spent most of His earthly life just pointing at things?

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written.
John 21:25

Using your methodology why don't we just highlight the word if and say that John is speculating that Jesus did anything beside what is recorded.

Joreba, you seem to have an agenda here. Between that and your rudeness to those who have tried to give you an answer and my own first opinion that you are a troll, I'm bowing out.

I suggest that if you seriously wish to discuss the implications of modern society on how we practice an ancient religion that never dreamed of such technology, that you straighten up your attitude and try reading here for a while. Perhaps you'll find the answers you seek without alienating your fellow posters.

JoReba is a troll and has been called out on it in the General Discussions area of BB. Now s/he is trolling in this part of the board. Don't fall for it. This person needs our prayer.
