Jesus Didn't Discriminate

It was poorly worded one cannot lose their salvation 1 Peter 1:3-5 I intended to say you cannot be saved and enjoy homosexual activity for very long.
Yes, I agree with you completely. That's 100% scriptural.
I did not say gays could not be saved. however when anyone is saved they can not contune in thier lifestyle of sin, thats where change come sin, and it's change God does, not us.
Good point. Yes, God changes us when we are saved. But we will still sin, because sinful nature is a part of being human. We shouldn't presume that a person isn't really saved just because they keep sinning. We'd all be hellbound if that were the case.
Too many want to make excusses to say it's ok if a person never changes, never obeys God. You can be a christian while contuning to approve sinful lifestyles.
Yes, excellent point. Salvation is not a license to sin. Even though we continue to sin, that doesn't mean it's okay.
The bible makes a destinction between sexual sins and other sins. There can be no comparision.
Yet some approve sexual sins in christians.
Scripture makes distinctions in regards to righteousness. Scripture does not make a distinction between sins when it comes to salvation. Sin is sin, and hell is punishment. Doesn't matter if you killed a million people, or stole a pack of bubble gum. It's sin, and the punishment is hell. Salvation, likewise pays for all sins. It does not pay for some sins more than others.

A Christian, ANY Christian, can still commit ANY sin. The Holy Spirit does not remove our free will to chose when He takes up His residence (oh, that He did!). Whether that sine is to lie (we all do it every day), molest a child, or engage in a homos*xual lifestyle. That doesn't mean God scratches that person's name out of His book, though.

I detest everything about homos*xuality. I whole heartily agree that it is an abomination. In the eyes of God, though, it is still a sin, just like so many other things. That doesn't less God's disdain for it, but it also doesn't mitigate any other sin as being, well, less sinful.

I abhor these billboards as they are a twisted means employed by perverted people to try to justify their sins. but i couldn't sit by with the bent the discussion has taken.

I will add, however, that anyone professing to be a Christian who willfully remains in habitual sin needs to do some checking up as the evidence of salvation is not present. this would include anyone who continues to practice a gay/lesbian lifestyle. The Holy Spirit will make the changes, but only if He was actually allowed to take up abode within.

From the article:
One sign states, "The early church welcomed a gay man." Another proclaims, "Jesus affirmed a gay couple."

Below each statement, a Bible verse is referred to: Matthew 8:5-13 and Acts 8:26-40, respectively.

I am totally lost on this one! How in the world do they get those interpretations from those 2 passages??

....We should also recognize that conviction is a process, not an event. The struggle againt sin is often a lifelong struggle. It can sometimes take years for a person to be fully convicted from a lifestyle sin. Alcohol and drug addictions are good examples.

I agree with this but you may not realize that the church that put these billboards up endorses homose*ual practice as biblical and they have the passages (they misinterpret them of course) to show this. So this is another animal entirely than from what you are saying.

This is not all that surprising. After all, there are groups that believe being swingers is not counter to Christianity also. I won't post the link here...I think it would be against BB rules. Just saying, people will take their own spin on anything.

well old John wants everyone to be sure to give room for his little caveats on every issue whether relevant or not.

True, but they are not organized like the Metropolitan Community Churches. I knew about these churches in Atlanta, before I was even a Christian. I knew a lot of gay people (both men and women) when I was in the New Age. Some of them were in the New Age, some were just secular, some were Wiccan. I did not know any in the Metropolitan Church but I knew about the church as I had passed it several times in a certain part of Atlanta.

John is very good at giving examples that having nothing to do with the OP.
Nice to see you lowering yourself to infantile comments.

Of course I realize that. I noted that earlier when I said the church is right that Jesus didn't discriminate, but wrong when they believe Jesus' nondiscrimination means that sin isn't sin.

Theres a difference between an occasional sin, and living in a sinful lifestyle, living in agreement of the world about sinful lifestyle, giving approval of it.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this thread is in agreement on that. I don't think anyone in this thread has said otherwise.

He accepts people for who they are and that only thing that matters to Him is the human race!

If Jesus doesn't discriminate, why do we become new creations? And why is it that not everyone is saved?

If Jesus doesn't discriminate, why do we become new creations? And why is it that not everyone is saved?

And why did he reveal himself to Abraham, but not Terah, his father.

And why did choose the descendants of Jacob as his own, but not the Canaanites? Or the Egyptians?

Why did Jesus send his disciples on mission journeys only to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, during his earthly ministry?

In John 17:9 Jesus said to the Father: "I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but for them which thou has given me; for they are mine." How come?

Jesus has promised to treat his sheep differently from the goats; he is pleased with obedient children and not with rebellious sinners.

I'm grateful he did not treat me as I deserved.
