The way Esther [Esther 5:1] and Luke [Luke 24:21, 46] looked at it when it was recorded in the Bible. One way to look at it.
And Mark 8:31 says He will rise after three days. Which is in line with Matthew 12:40 and Luke 24:21.Mark 9:31, . . . he shall rise the third day.
That was said on the first day of the week, i.e. Sunday, so the first day since the crucifixion would have been Friday, and the second day since the crucifixion would have been Saturday thus making Sunday the third day since the crucifixion.Luke 24:21, . . . to day is the third day since . . .
That would be Sunday night. Where's the problem? In the grave 3 days and 3 nights
Lets see
First night: Friday
Second night: Saturday
Third night???
Do you have any examples to support that idea, i.e., instances when a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have been?Jews counted any parts of a day and counted days starting in the evening
Friday. Day 1
Saturday. Day 2
Sunday. Day 3
Mark 16:9That would be Sunday night. Where's the problem?
Are you saying that Mark 16:9 poses a problem?Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
For Friday crucifixion. Are you saying that Mark 16:9 poses a problem?
Well, you have to include Sunday night with a Sunday resurrection. So you either can’t include Friday night or Sunday night.
Does Esther 4&5 count?Do you have any examples to support that idea, i.e., instances when a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have been?
But not with a Thursday crucifixion. For Friday crucifixion.
Do you mean the Sunday night beginning at six or sundown the previous day?Well, you have to include Sunday night with a Sunday resurrection.
I misunderstood your post 23.But not with a Thursday crucifixion.
Does Esther 4&5 count?
If you mean the night time during the first half of Sunday, then yes.Do you mean the Sunday night beginning at six or sundown the previous day?
The night after that would be Monday night.Or do you mean the night after He had already risen when He was not in the grave?
The Messiah was apparently placed in the tomb sometime during the daytime late in the afternoon. So, if it was a night time resurrection then it couldn't have been even"roughly" the time of day that the Messiah was placed in the tomb which was during the day time.Jesus had already risen before sunrise on the first day of the week.
Evening coming first, Jesus being raised the third day would line up with a “nighttime” resurrection on the evening of the first day. This is also roughly the time of day Jesus was put into the tomb.
Any thoughts about this?
Only that 3 full days (sunlight) and 3 full nights (darkness) will never work with a resurrection near sunrise.Any thoughts about this?
Actually Friday is one day since. And Mark 8:31 says He will rise after three days. Which is in line with Matthew 12:40 and Luke 24:21.
That was said on the first day of the week, i.e. Sunday, so the first day since the crucifixion would have been Friday, and the second day since the crucifixion would have been Saturday thus making Sunday the third day since the crucifixion.
