Mark 9:31, . . . he shall rise the third day.
And Mark 8:31 says He will rise after three days. Which is in line with Matthew 12:40 and Luke 24:21.

Luke 24:21, . . . to day is the third day since . . .
That was said on the first day of the week, i.e. Sunday, so the first day since the crucifixion would have been Friday, and the second day since the crucifixion would have been Saturday thus making Sunday the third day since the crucifixion.

Jews counted any parts of a day and counted days starting in the evening

Friday. Day 1

Saturday. Day 2

Sunday. Day 3
Do you have any examples to support that idea, i.e., instances when a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have been?

Does Esther 4&5 count?

Esther 4:15-17 [NASB]
15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, 16 "Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants also will fast in the same way. And then I will go in to the king, which is not in accordance with the law; and if I perish, I perish." 17 So Mordecai went away and did just as Esther had commanded him.
Esther5:1-2 [NASB]
1 Now it came about on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner courtyard of the king's palace in front of the king's rooms, and the king was sitting on his royal throne in the throne room, opposite the entrance to the palace. 2 When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the courtyard, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king extended to Esther the golden scepter which [was] in his hand. So Esther approached and touched the top of the scepter.

"Three days, day and night" = "on the third day"

Jesus had already risen before sunrise on the first day of the week.
Evening coming first, Jesus being raised the third day would line up with a “nighttime” resurrection on the evening of the first day. This is also roughly the time of day Jesus was put into the tomb.

Any thoughts about this?

The Messiah was apparently placed in the tomb sometime during the daytime late in the afternoon. So, if it was a night time resurrection then it couldn't have been even"roughly" the time of day that the Messiah was placed in the tomb which was during the day time.

Only that 3 full days (sunlight) and 3 full nights (darkness) will never work with a resurrection near sunrise.

Jesus died in the afternoon (late daylight) and was quickly buried before sunset (irrespective of the exact day)
The women discovered the tomb empty at sunrise (Sunday).

So 3 full "daylight" and "darkness" requires Jesus to rise sometime between late afternoon (death) and sunset (burial) to have exactly 3 of each ... which is a whole "night" before the women arrived at the tomb and perhaps even part of a day if we want exactly 72 hours of death.

No matter how you slice it, exactly 72 hours is hard to fit into the narrative (implied by 3 full days and 3 full nights as literal).

Actually Friday is one day since.
