Jesus never claims to be God in the synoptic gospels?

You've made some good points and I'll consider them, though I'm not convinced yet about some of them which seem speculative to me, without first century proof, or at least that you've given. More than that, though, I don't have time to research or money to buy the books right now.

But tell you what, I'll never be convinced that common sense is limited to modern times!
Agree to disagree then ;). I still enjoy talking to you no matter what.

Our primary objective should be to read the New Testament in light of the Old Testament, not vice versa.”

This would then be problematic given that revelation has been progressive and even Paul spoke of the mystery of the church. To say that one should never understand the OT in light of the NT is just incorrect.

Progressive as it may be, thought patterns, language, concepts, and theology of the NT primarily stem from the OT w/ a smidgen being polemical to the then modern world of ancient Rome & its philosophy and religion. To ignore this is folly.
