Jesus rode a Donkey....I rode a John Deere

New member so thanks for having me!

I've been a believer in Jesus Christ a long time but never attended church. I was a go into your closet and pray alone kind of man. Lately I've had a urge for fellowship and my 3 year old daughter wanted to go to church. My family only has 1 vehicle and my wife had to be at work at 11 am so we were left home alone with no ride. There's a old old General Baptist church just a half mile from my rural Kentucky home so I decided we would just ride the old John deere tractor to church that morning. We pull up on that tractor and was greeted by laughter and smiles and I asked if they had some room for a couple sinners this morning lol. They invited us in and we had a great time. Afterwards the church was baptizing a autistic boy in the creek by the church and I volunteered to be baptized with him for I had never been baptized before. It was a great experience and I feel closer to god than ever. Of course riding home on the John Deere soaking wet wasn't real fun but I made it home

Here we are parked at our first day of church. Just so happen revival is this week and we haven't missed a night yet. So far I have gathered that this church keeps the 2 greatest commandments very well. They love The Lord and they love their neighbors. They sure accepted me with open arms after riding up on a tractor and not knowing me from Adam. I don't know alot about denominations either but I know a good tree bears good fruit. The fruit is very good here

Hey, what can I say?
To me, this is CHRISTIANITY grass root style.
Love the story AND the subtle implications of a quiet (still small voice???) but effective relationship result.

Welcome sir. Your John Deer lawn mower story reminds me of what I saw back in June of this year when I went to pick up my two oldest twin grand children when school turned out after they visited High School on eight grade day. Most kids in high school have their own car unlike the days when I went to school and as the kids were going to the parking lot to leave in their automobiles, this one boy jumps on his lawn mower and away he went. I thought this was pretty cool.

JohnnyReb, you need to call the K-Love Morning Show with that story. They'll love it!

And Aaron? Ever try to carry a three-year-old 20 feet, much less a half-mile? Obviously not ...

Being the father of 3 girls, I would never had to have carry one around the zoo, or the amusement park or the shopping mall . . .

Cool story, JR. Made me laugh and smile.

Sounds like a church you need to stick with. And you are welcome to stick around here.

Thanks alot. I been reading some of the other threads and I'm not so sure I want to get bruised up lol. Lots of " sword fights" going on as a old Pentecostal preacher referred to it one time. In case you don't get it....a sword fight is when 2 people have a back and forth quarrel with scriptures lol.

I will say that I am here to glorify Jesus Christ! We as Christians don't always get it right and if we did then we wouldn't need Jesus Christ. MAN will never agree 100% on what the Bible teaches....because we are FLESH. We are not capable of being perfect. But with Jesus Christ we have a perfect Lord and Savior and whomsoever believes in him shall never die!

Welcome brother.

I am also a veteran (USAF). Was saved while in the service - reading my Bible and listening to a Gospel Station from "Wheeling WV".

Swordfights: Put on your armor (or is it armour?) you'll be fine.

. . . . . . K. The Jesus comparison sticks in my craw.

The Jesus comparison was referring to how someone as great as him could ride a donkey into Jerusalem therefore I shouldn't be ashamed to ride whatever means nessesary to serve him. I didn't let what people thought detour me from worshipping The Lord . Jesus didn't much care what the hot shots in Jerusalem thought about him either.

Now if that sticks in your craw I'm sure there's some medicine at the local drug store to fix that right up
