Jesus says He is Yahweh

Matthew 11:10

“This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare Your way before You.’”

Jesus is here quoting from Malachi 3:1:

“Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me; and the Lord, Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the Messenger of the Covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He comes!” says Yahweh of Armies”

In Malachi, we have the Speaker, Who is “Yahweh of Armies”, Who is Speaking of His “messenger”, who is John the Baptist, who is to prepare the Way for “Yahweh of Armies”. “The Lord”, Who is “the Messenger of the Covenant”, is “The Messiah”, Who is “Coming” in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The Lord”, here is in the Hebrew (הָאָדוֹן, ha adon), the same word used in Psalm 110:1, “לַאדֹנִי נְאֻם יהוה" (Yahweh says to Adoni)

The Coming of “ha adon”, is the same as The Coming of “Yahweh of Armies”.

In the Greek Septuagint Old Testament (LXX), Malachi 3:1, is:

“ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου, καὶ ἐπιβλέψεται ὁδὸν πρὸ προσώπου μου…λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ” (Greek Septuagint Old Testament. LXX)

“Behold, I send forth My messenger, and he shall survey the way before Me..Says The Lord Almighty”

When Jesus quotes this verse in the Gospels, Matthew 11:10, Mark 1:2, and Luke 7:27, it reads:

“οὗτός ἐστιν περὶ οὗ γέγραπται. Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου, ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου”

Jesus has changed the pronoun, from “μου” (Me), to “σου” (you). In doing so, Jesus here makes Himself the Speaker in Malachi 3:1, Who is “אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת” (Says Yahweh of Hosts), and John the Baptist as going before Him, Who is also “הָאָדוֹן, ha adon”. It is clear that Yahweh is the same as Adon.

The Prophecy in Malachi 3:1, is very similar to what we read in Isaiah 40:3

“The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the Way of Yahweh in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God”

This verse, which is for the Coming of Yahweh, is directly applied to the Coming of Jesus Christ, in the Gospels.

“For this is He who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready! Make His paths straight!” (Matthew 3:3; Luke 3:4-5; John 1:23)

The “He” John is speaking about, is the Lord Jesus Christ. John says that the Coming of Jesus Christ, is the fulfilment of the Prophecy spoken by the Prophet Isaiah, about the Coming of Yahweh. They are one and the same event.

In Mark 1:2-3, he combines the Prophecies in Malachi 3:1, and Isaiah 40:3;

“As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before Your Face, which shall prepare Your Way before You. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight

In Luke chapter one, we read of the birth of John the Baptist, and his mission.

“He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.” (verses 16-17)

The “He” here is John the Baptist. The “Him (αὐτοῦ)”, is “κύριον τὸν θεὸν αὐτῶν” (the Lord their God), Who is “the Lord”, Yahweh. We also have this in verse 76, “And you, child, will be called a Prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Face of the Lord to prepare His Ways”. “The Lord”, is “Yahweh”.

This verse also is a fulfillment of both Malachi 3:1, and Isaiah 40:3, in The Coming of The Lord Jesus Christ, who, as Paul says, is, “θεος εφανερωθη εν σαρκι (God Manifested in the Flesh)”. And John, in his Gospel, “και θεος ην ο λογος...και ο λογος σαρξ εγενετο και εσκηνωσεν (And the Word was God...and the Word became flesh and lived among us)”

The Bible Testimony could not be clearer. We have Jesus Christ directly saying that He is YHWH, the Eternal God. There is no other way to understand the change made by Jesus Himself, to the pronoun, as used in Malachi 3:1, when He quotes this in the Gospels, and makes Himself the Speaker in this passage, Who is, “Yahweh of Hosts”

Those who reject that Jesus Christ is ALMIGHTY GOD, and that He ever claimed to be YHWH, have been proven to be FALSE witnesses to the TRUTH as taught in in Infallible Word of God, The Holy Bible.

This DESTROYS the HERESY known as Unitarianism, and the unbiblical “cults” like the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

What we have often learned, here at the BB, is that people, proven to be false, still post with the same false assertions over and over again, despite being proven false.

It is interesting that Moses, in being told the name of God, responds by calling Him Yahweh Yeshua. This is why when Jesus say before Abraham was, I Am, the Jews attempt to kill him. (John 8:58)

John 8:56, ". . . Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad."

typical arrogance from you!

Why don't you post this stuff where it might actually do some good and where you're more likely to get some real pushback? You're insulated from real opposition because they can't post here, but we Baptists can post on their turf..
