IVERMECTIN - The COVID Blog
According to the Barcelona Institute of Global Health:
[Ivermectin] is used to treat millions of people at risk of contracting devastating diseases, such as onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis, and also plays an important role in the control of intestinal helminth infections. Because of its excellent safety profile and broad spectrum of activity, ivermectin is catalogued by the World Health Organization as an essential medicine and is regarded by many as a “magic bullet” for global health.
The article concludes, “The global community must act to ensure that essential medicines are affordable, accessible and available to those who need them, irrespective of what disease they may have or where they were born.”

Favorable outcome on viral load and culture viability using Ivermectin in early treatment of non-hospitalized patients with mild COVID-19 – A double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled trial | medRxiv
On day 6, 34 out of 47 (72%) patients in the ivermectin arm reached the endpoint, compared to 21/ 42 (50%) in the placebo arm (OR 2·62; 95% CI: 1·09-6·31). In a multivariable logistic-regression model, the odds of a negative test at day 6 was 2.62 time higher in the ivermectin group (95% CI: 1·06–6·45). Cultures at days 2 to 6 were positive in 3/23 (13·0%) of ivermectin samples vs. 14/29 (48·2%) in the placebo group (p=0·008).
Conclusions There were significantly lower viral loads and viable cultures in the ivermectin group, which could lead to shortening isolation time in these patients.
The study is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov NCT 044297411.
Yet Fauci continues to say it's a dangerous drug and there is no proof it is effective.
Also his friend Rachel Maddow agrees with him and makes fun of Ivermectin like a base and worthless fellow might. Seems to me Ivermectin is a dangerous drug to this virus, not to the patients.

Oh good grief! Of the many topics on this board you feel you are an expert in you really haven’t heard of ivermectin? I find that hard to believe. Even the most casual of news watchers have heard about because of the big deal President Trump made of it.

The AMA has now come out against the drug, telling its members to refuse to prescribe it for covid.

I don't know why you think I'm lying...or would take the time to post that opinion. And I don't watch the news.
Not every member here is the expert you pretend to be, "Rev".
Ok....I see this is used in veterinary practices, but I think I read somewhere when looking it up that there is also a human medical contex
What I'm getting at is somebody didn't just say "hey....it helps with worms in horses so I'll try it for covid".
It is used for parasitic infections in people as well.
Why the focus on the veterinary application? Is it to discredit the medication?
