Yes, even though God loved the word...Would you object to a rendering of "For God loved the word so," I'm wondering?
On a more serious note, why would you so rearrange the wording?
BTW, I do not object to the rendering "in this way" as incorrect. However, I prefer not to change what is there. For God loved the world so, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I have not accepted your assessment that this is going with an ambiguous reading. The point is it is ambiguous. Why go with an ambiguous reading when the Greek is clearer and we can make it clearer in English as well?
Ultimately, in rewriting what is likely the most well known (at least one of the most well-known) verse(s) in the Bible, I believe we lose more than we gain.
