Agreed, but It is not just denying Christ.
First, he has very publicly denied Christ, knowing the coverage that it would get.
Second, he embraced a very secular liberal ideology while denouncing his own Lord.
Thirdly, he asked for the forgiveness from those in rebellion to our Lord Jesus for the truth he once taught.
This is shameful to the cause of Christ.
