JUDGE ANDREW NAPOLITANO: Six Things You Should Know About the Homeland Security Repor

........................The summary (unclassified) document is terrifying. One can only imagine what is contained in the classified version. This document runs directly counter to numerous U.S. Supreme decisions prohibiting the government from engaging in any activities that could serve to chill the exercise of expressive liberties. Liberties are chilled, in constitutional parlance, when people are afraid to express themselves for fear of government omnipresence, monitoring, or reprisals. The document also informs the reader that Big Brother is watching both public and private behavior.

5. The whole purpose of the First Amendment is to guarantee open, broad, robust debate on the policies and personnel of the government. The First Amendment presumes that individuals — NOT THE GOVERNMENT — are free to choose what they believe and espouse, what they read and say, and with whom they associate in public and in private. The writers of this abominable report are particularly concerned with the expression of opinions that might be used to fuel ideas that challenge federal authority or favor state and local government over the federal government. Unfortunately, legislation passed during the past eight years gives the DHS and the FBI the tools to monitor everything from a telephone conversation to the keystrokes used on a personal computer without a warrant issued by a federal judge.

6. My guess is that the sentiments revealed in the report I read are the tip of an iceberg that the DHS would prefer to keep submerged until it needs to reveal it. This iceberg is the heavy-hand of government; a government with large and awful eyes, in whose heart there is no love for freedom, and on whose face there is no smile.

President Bush established the Homeland Security Department (I never did like that name) to protect us primarily from outside security threats.

It appears the Obama Administration's primary usage of this department will be to "protect" us from inside threats.(ourselves)

That's you and me, Brother. And anyone else who doesn't go along with turning America into a socialist nanny state.

Wonder where Obama's rumored Civilian Security Force fits in.

This report is far and away the scariest thing I've seen from our government. It doesn't just hint of fascism--it reeks of it.

As far as I'm concerned, Napalitano is a hair's breadth from treason.

From the report:

"Rightwing extremism," the report said in a footnote on Page 2, goes beyond religious and racial hate groups and extends to "those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely."
"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," said the report, which also listed gun owners and veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as potential risks.

For those of you in denial...please realize who are considered extremists by some in this administration:
  • Those who believe the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution.
  • Those who oppose abortion.
  • Those who oppose immigration.
  • Those who own guns.
  • Veterans of Iraq & Afghanistan.
I would put this nutcase under 24/7 surveillance. I'd use some anti-abortion Navy Seals who fought in Iraq as personnel.

CLARIFICATION: The "Nutcase" to whom I refer is Janet Napaolitano...assistant fascist to the committee to introduce fascism to the American public (an Obama appointee, otherwise known as Homeland Security Secretary).

That is the Homeland Security Secretary not the Judge. Of course the Judge may be the one investigated by the Justice Department.

Sorry rbell I did not see your clarification. I still say the Judge best watch out for Justice Department lawyers. They did Scooter Libby in for nothing. And then there are the two border guards in Texas.

It would be interesting to know just what Obama's role was in the preparation of this document given the emphasis on racism, his election, his obsession with gun control and his radical Marxist views.

My understanding is he has made some small and vain attempt to distance himself from it. But only a liberal could think it is possible to distance himself from his own administration without completely repudiating it all together. But I am glad this report came out, it shows the un-American attitude of this admin and its evil agenda. It is the kind of exposure to this admin that will be his undoing.

I hope you are right Rev., but I'm not holding my breath.

When you consider the ease with which this modern Pied Piper mesmerized so many of the sheeple, one has to wonder if there is any semblance of discernment left in this citizenry.

If they were going to "rebel" against their master, it SHOULD have started with the bail-outs; yet most, if not all, thought that the empty suit was working a miracle!

Like I said, no discernment.

Sounds like the powers that be, not Bush or Obama (puppets) would really like to start a war between the lefties and righties with this one. Once again divide and conquer. Go ahead y'all pick a side and waste your time and energy chasing shadows.

I got an idea. Instead of falling for it yet again why not just put our petty rivalries aside and fight our common enemy?

These things don't happen over night they're "introduced" a little at a time. First by the right then by the left. Keeps us at each others necks and not paying attention to who is really behind these "policies". I know, I've said all this before and I know you just can't pass up any excuse to go after this liberal or that conservative can ya? Though at least when a "democrat" is office you'll pay attention to the tyranny being foisted upon you. I reckon that's a start.

Did you ever read and understand the Patriot Acts 1 and 2? They are not well understood by most people but the allow things like the police/CIA/FBI bursting into your house without a warrant or due cause and take away the right of Habeas Corpus. I believe this last item was declared to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

This report seems to be one of several. Who are the targets of the other reports? I don't know. This attack on our liberty started right after 9/11 not during the present administration. If the target were extremist left wing groups I'll bet you would support the study. In fact, I believe we can't let the government take away our fundamental rights for for any group nor any reason. Fear of terrorism was used to take away liberty after 9/11. As was best said by Ben Franklin:

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

You do know Obama has no plans to end it, right ? And you do know the Patriot act was written during the Clinton administration, right ? And you do know it's based on the same liberty violations that gave us WACO, and the John Gotti investigation, right ?

Do you think they are referring to the patriot act? Warrant less wire tapping?
